Can CAL POLY win in 2023 with the current team roster??? No. We will end up with the same underachieving mess as last year. We will lose the important August & September games that will give us no chance at an At Large, and then have a bunch of pressure on us to win the BW. By then, it will be another season of injuries and excuses and we are all going to say we need a new coach. I really hope I'm wrong but there is no reason to expect anything else. so you think there is a different/new coach out there willing to work for Cal Poly salaries that can recruit better than Walters?

But I know that what we have isn't going to be enough. How much worse could it be? it could be worse and has been. I believe Walters has demonstrated and earned more 'slack' based on the last 5 years overall. Now, if 2 more years go by and she can't recruit back up to teh top of the Big West, then it might be time. I don't see that her game coaching and training has been poor. it's all recruiting. granted, I can't stand that Cal Poly has gone to not having any home non-conference games, that has to change. I get students aren't on campus for almost all non-conference, that's not the way to promote the program though. agree though, just don't see the recruiting class coming in as moving up or challenging Hawaii. Bullis is solid, but that's about it. When you have a nice setter, should be able to attract some hitters. the Big West overall, not just Poly, is losing the xfer battle

If, CAL POLY is going to compete in2023 coach Walters needs to get two or three top level experienced (junior, seniors and/grad) transfers from the portal. Players that are better than Slack, Hiatt, Akmia, Markovska and Thalken. Time is going by and nothing has been yet announced.

The bottom end of the roster is bordering on D3 level talent. just watch their hitting lines and warmup drills. Balls go flying backwards and sideways more often than they go forward. And I don't know the last time we had a better hitting line display than anyone decent that we have played.

Smh, it s unreasonable to think Poly can come away with 3 impact transfers or that us the way that program should even present and build itself the competition for transfers is fierce she needs solide frosh recruits, and maybe a transfer to add It s a new era, but not every program needs to chase xfers and try to mimic a Texas or others No question Poly is at a bit if crossroads with Maia gone. next two years Walters needs to show some progress with a new core around Bullis. more interested to see the solution to the poor receiving

Coming off a very marginal 2022 season and losing two key +1 players.

It one thing to be able to recruit but it’s also another thing to be able to coach and train. Give Walters a Fields or Eggleston type of player and they’re still going to be in the middle of Big West. She just got extremely lucky to have inherited the Van Windens but that’s the end of an era at CP. She needs to go in a couple years.

Of course what have you done for me lately is important but Cal Poly has been the second best program to Hawaii before and during the Walters tenure. It has been hard for a lot of teams to catch and overcome Hawaii but Poly's program can achieve this with a couple good and strategic recruits. That goes for most programs and I believe Walters is a sold coach. However, I see LBSU getting back to the top very soon...

Crosson was the one that actually lucked into that situation more than Walters. Walters didn't screw it up at least, and actually built on that.

I don't see any additions to the Long Beach roster to support the idea that they'll be surpassing Hawai'i.

Coach Walters together with coach Brochin did a wonderful job keeping the team moving forward after the Van Winden sisters graduated. Now CAL POLY is at a crossroads with no more "superstars",...exception Tommi Stockham. But, Stockham can't do it alone even with Hiatt at 100%.
