So to recap:
* DeSantis decided to become an anti-LGBTQ culture warrior in order to impress the GOP voters.
* Disney spoke out against it, because it's bad for their business to make the state seem hostile to potential Disney customers.
* DeSantis saw an opportunity to prove his culture warrior credentials by forcing Disney to back down. He decided to end the Reedy Creek special district.
* It was realized that ending the Reedy Creek district would actually dump the obligations of the district onto the local counties without providing them any funds to pay for it. Disney was already taxing themselves to pay for Reedy Creek and also paying taxes to the counties. If Reedy Creek was ended, then Disney could stop taxing themselves for it and the counties would have to pay for everything. And since Disney was already paying their county taxes, that means the counties would have no extra money but a lot of extra expenses.
* DeSantis backtracked on getting rid of Reedy Creek, and instead had the legislature change the law to put it under the control of the governor.
* The outgoing board wrote up a contract that gave away all their power to Disney, so that the incoming board would be powerless.
* DeSantis is now complaining that Disney outplayed him in their chess game, so he is promising he'll now change the rules again until he wins.

Let’s recap, DeSantis overwhelmingly and completely dominated the election in Florida. So evidently the people in Florida are very happy with his performance and that’s all anyone needs to know. All the liberals across the nation can scream like a bunch of school children but that’s a fact. Deal with it Garrison and others. You’re not in charge.

There was quite a bit of Disney employee protest, including at HQ in Burbank. The legislation was done in two special sessions - both the first session to dissolve older special districts (which screwed other districts) and the one that set up the new one. DeSantis always said he wanted a replacement for RCID. But he wanted to strip Disney’s power to control it. It was previously controlled by a board elected only by residents of Bay Lake and Lake Buenavista Vista, and all residents were hand picked by Disney. They specifically removed the Celebration master planned community from the RCID coverage area such that their residents wouldn’t have a say in RCID board members. The new board apparently has the power over road construction and maintenance. Disney ceded much of the land for the construction of roads to the district. I suppose the new board could theoretically try to screw over Disney by ordering unnecessary Chris Christie style closures. Wouldn’t surprise me.

Which is it. Art major or Advertising? What will it be tomorrow? Nuclear Engineering? Brain Surgery? Gosh your smart...what is Advertising Design? Think real hard! I know people who major in Advertising Design don't tell others they majored in Art. Ya know, for the amount of lying you do, one would think you'd be better at it.

This was really a worthless degree. Unless you’re a top-notch illustrator, jobs in advertising and design are tough to get. I did OK but most of the students ended up doing anything but what they were trying to do.Also, unless you’re in the top 5% of illustrators you make no money. Of course all of that has completely changed and it’s done on computers

Returning to the Florida charter school controversy, I found this interesting - Hillsdale College, which licensed its "classical education" curriculum to the Tallahassee Classical School, has ended its relationship with the Florida school and revoked the license to use Hillsdale's lesson plans. Bolding is mine: A Hillsdale College spokesperson said Tallahassee Classical School no longer is affiliated with the small, Christian classical liberal arts college in southern Michigan, MLive.com reported Thursday.
“This drama around teaching Michelangelo’s ‘David’ sculpture, one of the most important works of art in existence, has become a distraction from, and a parody of, the actual aims of classical education,” spokesperson Emily Stack Davis wrote in a statement. “Of course, Hillsdale’s K-12 art curriculum includes Michelangelo’s ‘David’ and other works of art that depict the human form.”
Tallahassee Classical School was licensed to use Hillsdale's classical education curriculum, but its license was "revoked and will expire at the end of the school year,” Davis said.Keeping in mind that Hillsdale is itself an über-conservative, über-Christian college, this is quite a rebuke of the Tallahassee charter school's actions. I wonder if the charter school will survive this, given its huge emphasis on the Hillsdale "classical" education model - recalling the published interview with the school's board chairman, it's pretty much all he could talk about... www.yahoo.com/news/college-ends-partnership-school-over-172347634.html

The board members of this school are apparently not subject to oversight by parents, and basically have 100% control of the school. This is the third principal they have gone through in the school's three-year history. It certainly seems like ol' Barney basically is running the school as his own little empire. If you have ever been a member of a private club or lived in a small town, you will probably have experienced what happens when somebody becomes President or Mayor or whatever and pretty much starts deciding that they have the final say on everything and that anybody who disagrees will just have to lump it. It suddenly becomes all about personality clashes and cliques.

Also, I did not know about the school churning through principals on a yearly basis. Barney seems a little mercurial.

Disney played a masterful chess game and made Ron look like a fool.
The language in it was a masterful way of getting by the rule against perpetuation from I could gather.
Disney really said don’t F with us, cause will F with you ten times harder
