What general rollback of gay rights would evangelicals be interested in? Other than forcing people (and particularly pastors) to provide services to things they find objectionable - I don't know what the dividing line would be right now? Certainly any kind of 'going back' isn't on the table. This is like your claim that no one wants to block access to birth control. It's simply not factual. It's what you claim because you don't want to have to defend the indefensible, but there are *plenty* of people who want to roll back gay rights. And many of those people are Evangelicals. (Also conservatives from other religions, like Islam and Judaism.) And Catholics! Don't forget about them. One of them is even on SCOTUS. |

Evangelicals as a group comprise a shrinking percentage of the American population (though not necessarily a shrinking percentage of GOP voters). The Dobbs decision also took their predominant mobilizing issue off the table, probably forever. Between those two things, I'm skeptical Evangelicals are going to represent the same political force going forward as they have the last 40ish years. Maybe they can be mobilized over trans panic or a general rollback of gay rights but my impression is that's less compelling than abortion. But there are plenty of Republican politicians talking about rolling back gay marriage and Evangelicals overwhelmingly vote for Republicans, so there is presumably some affinity for the policy position. I didn't say Evangelicals were driving it, just speculating on some options for mobilizing them now that abortion protections have been eliminated. My point is it may be difficult to mobilize them as a political force and an individual politicians cachet with them could matter far less than appealing to social conservatives and right wingers more broadly. |

I had a week long age appropriate sex ed class in 6th grade in the 70's. I then had another quarter class in sex ed in either 9th or 10th grade, also age appropriate. Awesome class. One of the best teachers I had in high school. Learned a lot that my parents would never have talked to me about. You would have hated everything about it. First of all, I am an art major that attended a very prestigious art school. I love art.I love the statue of David, despite my love of art I don’t think it’s appropriate for a sixth grader to look at the statue. It’s that simple. Don't let any children go to Italy then... |

I love art.I love the statue of David, despite my love of art I don’t think it’s appropriate for a sixth grader to look at the statue. It’s that simple. Don't let any children go to Italy then... Kids don't really give a sh*t about nudity. Maybe as they get older they get a little curious, but generally they don't care because they aren't sexual.
It's only once they start hitting puberty that they start noticing/caring, but by then it's not shocking in any way, only fascinating.
Really it's only adults who get hangups about nudity in art.

I didn't see any traumatized children in Italy and nudity in art was everywhere. How many children do you know personally in Italy? Nudity is EVERYWHERE in Italy from historical art to the gift shops. My two American children were not traumatized, they understand basic human anatomy. The thousands of kids we passed didn't seem to care much. The kids that my oldest made friends with at the parks send perfectly normal. I really don't know why the human body is so threatening to you. |
