I’m confused who you Democrats hate the most??? Ron DeSantis or Donald Trump? It’s so hard keeping up? Who triggers you the most? I think it’s still Donald.

A school district (made up of liberal educators) in Florida moved a poem from the grade school library to the middle school library. This isn't a normal definition of 'banning'. And your post was in a DeSantis thread as a way to brand DeSantis as some kind of evil person banning books - otherwise, why even post this in this thread? The complainant asked to have it banned, not moved. The stated reasons, including "hate messages" and "indoctrinate students", appeared to reference DeSantis' stated views about his legislation: "Following woke indoctrination in our schools, that is a road to ruin for this country," he said. "And we're not going to let it happen in Florida." Of course this belongs in a thread about DeSantis. This is exactly the type of ignorant (Oprah?) hate he has been cultivating. So, some complainant wanted a book(s) and poem banned. And neither the books nor poem were banned.

1) DeSantis spends months boasting about how he is removing "woke" influence from Florida schools; getting laws passed making it easy to challenge materials. 2) A Florida elementary school removes The Hill We Climb from their library after a parent complains about it. ("Sending it to the middle school" is in fact removing it from the elementary school.) 3) Blue questions how any reasonable person could see a connection between 1 and 2. Why would any library not have every book ever written in the history of world? Is not having a book - of which most libraries do not have 99.9% of all the books published, mean it is banned? People looking at the age appropriateness of books for a school library isn't the same thing as banning books. Should libraries have no regards for age appropriateness. Why not just have War and Peace and Moby Dick as the only types of books for a 1st grader? A *liberal* Florida elementary school determined that 'The Hill We Climb' was better suited for a middle school and moved the book to said middle school. This action makes it considerably more likely the poem will be read - and read by people better able to understand and enjoy the poem.

And neither the books nor poem were banned. Removed. From. The. School. Library. You keep saying "not banned", but it was removed from the school library. You can dance around this like Fred Astaire, but the book was removed from the school library. By the way, another book that was removed from the same school library and sent to the middle school was "The ABCs Of Black History", a book explicitly written for elementary school ages kids. This isn't a just an isolated incident, it's a pattern being repeated all over Florida as school administrators are reacting to the obvious, explicit intent from DeSantis and the Florida legislature. Are you the same person who was so thrilled about Elon Musk being a "free speech absolutist"? I guess free speech only applies in one direction, huh?

Every school library in the country has to remove books from their library - there isn't the space to continue to add books every year - unless we just never add books. This decision had nothing to do with the state of Florida - it was a decision made at the local level by a group of teachers and the principal. Deciding on what books are age appropriate is not the same thing as banning. Of course the obvious answer is to get rid of Government Schools - this would never be an issue at a private school.

"Government schools" - there's your tell, as if we needed one.
"[T]his would never be an issue at a private school." You're probably right, which is a fine example of attempting to indoctrinate by omission.

It's so rich that this entire conversation started because blue accused mike of relying on misinformation/having his facts wrong and all we've learned is blue had no idea what he was talking about.
