"Committed" has no legal force. "Signed" is a reference to the NLI, which is a legal contract. But players can request that the school release them from it. Some schools do. Some do sometimes. Some don't. I can't say that Washington never refuses to release players or that they never will do so, but in the couple of decades I've been following the program, I've never seen them refuse to release players. When there is a coaching change, as there was at UW, it is nearly unheard of for a university not to release an incoming freshman from an NLI. All they need do is ask. So was the setter from North Carolina released that was also a incoming freshman?

That may be but I thought it was a gentlemen's agreement that once a player gets to that point its hands off, IE another school would not be still trying to recruit the player. Does it matter? If a player no longer wants to go to a school because the HC left or was fired, some archaic "gentleman's agreement" shouldn't prevent it. All that does is increase the chances of a transfer in the future.

If she wanted to be released, I am confident that UNC would have released her, but maybe I"m misunderstanding your question.

I think what ball coach is saying is that when MM was let out of her LOI and went and committed to TAMU did the '23 recruit setter from NC area allowed out of her LOI to TAMU with firing of the TAMU coaching staff
I would say that TAMU has shown in the past especially on the womens side of athletics any player who wants out with coaching change has been allowed to do so
That said I do not known if Brynn Cavell has been let out of her LOI nor do i know if she wants to.
As for recruitment I dont think many players are contimued to be recruited after the LOI is signed but I imagine with transfer portal that connections stay longer and MM has an obvious connection previously to her commitment to Washington but I doubt anything was done before she requested out of LOI

Is it official that Manning will be at A&M? Yes...It appears to be a done deal based on her IG. Nothing official from school that I have seen, but would expect something soon. http://instagram.com/p/Co9_hWKrMSK

Posting to follow and to say I'm excited to see what this season has to offer, but I really wish they would update the roster, even if it isn't 100% complete. I am 95% sure Meuth is coming back since she is still active on their facebook social media account and shows up in practice videos. I was also very excited about Cos-Okpalla in her limited time last season and I'm hoping she is still around in the fall and can challenge for a starting spot.

Did anyone go to the scrimmage vs Rice yesterday? Curious how we looked.

They played sets to 15
First four sets were splits and then TAMU won the last two to win the best of 7
Didnt see the match as it was in the practice facility and had to work the BB game that mid morning

Agreed for sure...I think people are really undervalueing how good this staff is and what they have the potential to create. Watching Aggie basketball right now fill up Reed Arena with only moderate success has me really excited for the fall. Help me understand how this staff trumps many of the others in the SEC. Serious question - what have these coaches achieved - especially at the DI college level that sparks such hope? None of them have winning record in Division 1 Volleyball. It will be interesting to see how they will perform.

What is everyone's impression of the squad and the new coaching staff after Spring practices and scrimmages? Will the Ags be active in the portal?

What is everyone's impression of the squad and the new coaching staff after Spring practices and scrimmages? Will the Ags be active in the portal? I think the Ags could surprise some folks this year. They won’t have a ton of depth, but I feel they have upgraded across most positions. They have made some really impactful additions and are hoping there could be more during the current portal opening. Some thoughts… Bianna Mouneke - arrived early on campus and has looked good in scrimmages I’ve seen. She is a legit SEC caliber 6 rotation OH and think she will complement Caroline Meuth at other OH position. Morgan Perkins – She has been with the team since January portal opening and is a huge addition. She had a All-Big 12 freshman season at OU before transferring. Margo Manning – A former UW commit who changed after Keegan left for MN can come in and be a 6row setter from day 1. She is not an early enrollee but is participating in USA NTDP this summer. Healthy Logan Lednicky – She played the last part of 2022 season with an injury and had to shut it down. I would guess she has been in the gym and should come back stronger in her sophomore season. Combine these new additions with the higher level of training the new staff brings, and I think they will surprise some folks and could finish in top 4-5 of SEC if they can avoid the injury bug.

There now seems to be a lot more parity in the SEC and agree A&M likely fits right into that. Multiple teams have improved (UGA, ARK, TENN, Etc.) with good young talent and experienced coaches. It is no longer just the 'Kentucky/Florida and others' conference. Add Texas next year and SEC is no question the #2 vball conference behind Big10
