I definitely think once it gets up and going, among the SEC schools, it could be a more appealing landing spot than most others. I for one would much rather spend 4 years in Nashville than anywhere in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Missouri, or Arkansas....and add Florida to that list so long as they have Trump Jr. as Governor. But I do have one question - since when is Tennessee considered the heart of volleyball country? I used to follow elite national recruiting pretty closely, you can probably count on one hand the number of top 50 or so players that have come from that state in the last decade. I agree! Amazing place, great staff...excited to see what the future brings for them |

Two things I'm a little curious about outside of roster construction: 1) Will they have summer camp in Summer 2024 or 2025? 2) Does Vandy allow semester transfers? If so, will they be able to get enough student-athletes in to potentially contest a spring match in 2025? Just saw this. Looks like my asking about camps in summer 2024 was slow playing it. Love that Vandy seems so invested in this! |

So I got into a conversation with somebody today about schools adding new programs--Duke Softball {Spring 2018} and Clemson Lacrosse/Gymnastics {Spring 2023/2024}--and whether those schools had to add a comparable men's program for Title IX reasons. Research results for those interested: Duke, reportedly had 13 men's and 13 women's programs before softball so they are probably fine given that they have football (I
don't know of any other school that has football and doesn't offer more women's sports than men's). Clemson had 8 men's sports to 7 women's sports before recently
adding golf and softball (and now gym and lacrosse). This was reportedly due to "consistent growth in its female student population." Anyway, in how this relates to Vandy (6 men's/10 women's sports--with volleyball): I stumbled onto this article (talking about some hopes to maybe add softball, gymnastics and men’s track and field) that says, "Vanderbilt will...gear up for an inaugural season in Fall 2025—although she (AD) didn’t rule out the possibility of the team competing in Fall 2024." There's no way that Vandy tries to move the timeline forward since Oklahoma and Texas are coming a year early, right? Like from a logistics and recruiting stand point, that doesn't seem like it will work? |
