With the announcement of Plum as the second AC today, the 2025 Vandy Volleyball coaching staff is officially complete, ahead of major recruiting club tournaments that are to come this spring. Who will be the first official commit? Time will tell, but there is potential for something great in Nashville in Fall 2025!

This staff is amazing, Nashville is super fun, Vandy is a great school. A top athlete could literally be the face of a new program. Wonder if any will bite.

For anyone who didn't watch/listen to the VBMag interview, the plan according to Anders is:
6 commits from the 2024 class who will all redshirt the first year + a few experienced transfers that spring + 6-8 athletes from the 2025 class

Two things I'm a little curious about outside of roster construction:
1) Will they have summer camp in Summer 2024 or 2025? 2) Does Vandy allow semester transfers? If so, will they be able to get enough student-athletes in to potentially contest a spring match in 2025?

I don’t know much about Anders Nelson but he seems like a great hire. With so many big coaching vacancies this year, what is the upside of him starting from scratch at Vanderbilt? It seems like it would be really tough to recruit to a program that is just starting out.

It seems like it would be really tough to recruit to a program that is just starting out. There's some discussion here (for starters) about this. To sum it up, I'd say the upside is Vanderbilt is a desirable place to go to school, it's in Tennessee (i.e. the heart of volleyball country), and the SEC. Memorial is going to be a cool gym to play in, and college students love Nashville. There are a lot of aspects about Vandy Volleyball that will make it easier to recruit as compared to other schools. Obviously, starting out is hard, and I think the other concern was Vandy's investment. I'd say they're clearly invested. The media coverage has been great, and they brought in probably one of the best Associate Coaches in the country as HC, and two pretty big names as Assistant Coaches. I'll also just say this about Anders: he has a reputation for bringing out the best in his players even if Vandy recruiting is a struggle. But who knows! They could go 0-24 for 10 straight years, but I'm optimistic.

But he knows how to win a winning program and most importantly he knows what kind of talent will it take to make it happen. Getting that talent to visit Nashville won’t be too difficult.

I for one would much rather spend 4 years in Nashville than anywhere in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Missouri, or Arkansas....and add Florida to that list so long as they have Trump Jr. as Governor. But I do have one question - since when is Tennessee considered the heart of volleyball country? I used to follow elite national recruiting pretty closely, you can probably count on one hand the number of top 50 or so players that have come from that state in the last decade.

i was also wondering that 😭 One Miss Eggleston singe-handedly makes Tennessee elite. There I said it! But it was the way she ripped the heart out of Louisville that sealed the deal.
