Well you’re sure old enough to remember but you’re just not evidently wise enough. No one covered the worlds events better than CNN back in the day. They were the gold standard. People trusted them in the old days. As for for Fox News? Bitter people always try to bring Goliath down. It always makes them look like the bigger fools in the process. Keep trying. No one considered CNN the Gold Standard for journalism. You're confusing them with the New York Times, a newspaper whose respect Trumpy craved. You’re wrong, again.

LOL. Cable news has *never* been "the gold standard for journalism".
The name "journalism" gives you a huge clue -- it's about "journals". Written documents.
But journalism has shifted focus over time to more and more immediacy and less and less depth. From actual journals to newspapers, which came out every day instead of once a week (or month or quarter). And then to radio, which added sound and a real-time element. And then TV, which added pictures. Cable news brought us the 24/7 news cycle. And then the internet moved it from not just 24/7 to "any time, any where, any subject".
Cable news has always been junkfood journalism. Flashy, ready to be snacked on at 2am, but not really nutritious. And just like when people eat nothing but junkfood and their body suffers, watching nothing but cable news is decidedly unhealthy for your intelligence.

You know why some people might suggest CNN was the "gold standard" for cable news in the 80's?
Because they were the only cable news in the 80's ffs.
CNN was launched in 1980, just in time for the Mariel boatlift. (The Mariel boatlift was the Hunter laptop of it's day for the right-wingers.)
And yes, CNN might have been the gold standard for coverage of the Persian Gulf war in 1991, because they were pretty much the only 24-hour news channel on television - cable or otherwise.
MSNBC launched in July of 1996. And Fox launched in October of 1996.
So, yes, in the 80's and early 90's CNN was the "gold" standard.
Holy hell, Fox viewers are dumb.

I hate to even address this because you’re such a coward when it comes to having a direct discussion. The television networks ABC, CBS and NBC were covering the news. They just weren’t doing what CNN was doing.Which made them the gold standard of news at the time. People were seeing things they had never seen before. They were bringing the news in that moment. I guess your pretend pissing match didn’t work out so well.

Oh shut up Rachel you little snowflake. Don't be so triggered and scared to address the actual issue in the post. Noticed this about Democrats. They love posting things from Twitter from random people as if their own opinion just doesn’t have any meaning? They have to have someone speak for them? I just find that whole thing so odd. Do you need had to have someone speak for you long?
