But it is tacky lol same as when football does it. Like if you’re a sought after recruit, it’s a given everyone is going to offer you if they have the money/schollies to do so. So in essence all you’re really doing is gassing yourself up for Instagram How is posting your offers tacky ?? Literally what’s tacky about it ? Also never once saw somebody calling a football/ basketball/ baseball player tacky for posting their offers. 🙄 There's just a lot of old heads and men that want women in sports to act a certain way which is hilarious. What's next, they're going to be classless?? 😩😂 This is me, saying it’s a bit tacky when any high school student athlete does it. Maybe it’s just because I believe in airing on the side of humility, I get it that it is simply a sign of the times to be flashy about these types of things but like I mentioned, if you’re already a highly sought after recruit, what else are you really doing other than phishing for likes on Instagram? I’m not trying to drag or disparage the athletes I’m just giving a difference in opinion that I think I’d like to see athletes go more towards the way of their individual character being what draws a following towards them rather than just posting on IG It’s not that deep, y’all can calm tf down lol

Hey I hope she gets all the offers she wants. No one is "hating on" her. We can be judgmental without hating someone. And no one is keeping her from "living her life." If you do something publicly, people are allowed to react publicly. It's just petty to do it on an anonymous board. Talking crap/judging a 16 yo is very sus. Again, it's not talking crap. It's an opinion, and not all that harsh, honestly. I'm sure she'll manage just fine. And yeah it's anonymous, but we're not posting on her twitter feed anonymously.

Only their way of thinking is the correct way. people voiced an opinion, in a public discussion forum no less, on a public conduct, and they're control freaks? seems more like your way of thinking is the only correct way. i don't have a problem with kids phishing for likes on IG btw, but you guys are killing me here.

IMO a school offering you a scholarship is a good thing. Something one should be happy and grateful to receive. A gift of opportunity. But instead of a thank you, some announce all their offers, knowing full well they are going to decline all but one. That is not a gracious response to the offers, regardless of the gender or sport of the recipient. It also might prove counter-productive, and in that regard STUPID, again this applies to all genders and sports. But these are youngsters, all of which can be expected (and thus forgiven) for periodic ingracious and stupid behavior.
Just my opinion. Not something I lose sleep over one way or the other. Not worth all the comments being forwarded.

For someone (not you) who stated they are going to advise their players not to post their offers on social media, yes, I consider that controlling.

Honestly I think it's a little tacky also, but I guess I'm just old school in that manner. I know basketball and football does it too, and I think it's tacky there also. But to be fair, my opinion doesn't matter. And in the age of NIL, and with Hazel attending IMG Academy, it kind of makes sense. I think we're going to find more and more athletes doing so as things go on. In the age of NIL, I think this is going to be true. Personally, I find it to be excessively attention seeking, but that is just what the social media age is promoting. She knows she is going to go to an elite volleyball program and she knows coaches around the country regard her as a blue-chip recruit. Why do you need to constantly brag about it? Humility is becoming a lost virtue, and it really is so unfortunate.

These players are clearly purposefully putting themselves out there specifically for attention. If parents and their minor children want protection from unwanted attention, stay off social media, it's that simple.

Demanding or manipulating for compliance is. And, the justification for the advice? Because to the advisor (who is not family) it appears "tacky"? So much for allowing their athletes to express themselves in a totally harmless way.

This is why I can't with the volleyball community, y'all are too soft. 😭
Y'all are acting like the girl publicly declined them in the post, she simply thanks them.
And then y'all wonder why NCAA women volleyball isn't treated the same as NCAA womens basketball.
Soon as a player/ program does something for personal interest or that y'all don't like y'all cry. 🙄
