Don't know about you, but I went to college to get a job and start a career. So it makes sense to me. Not sure I agree, but easy to understand the post. Good for you? I think most student athletes want to be somewhere where not only the athletics and academics are somewhere desirable but also the environment they are going to spend 4-5 years of their life in. If an athlete prefers the environment in Westwood over the environment in Madison, and both are open to them, I’m not sure I understand the reasoning behind going to the least desirable location, just because. That’s the point I’m making. An employer, especially these days, are going to care about the entire package of employee they are going after. Guess you never have been on the Memorial Terrace in the summer.

Guess you never have been on the Memorial Terrace in the summer. I’m not saying Madison, Wisconsin is not a desirable place to be. I’m sure it definitely can be for some and for others not so much. And vice versa for Los Angeles. It could have been any other spot in the country, it’s just up to the individual. Like for me for example, obviously Lincoln, Nebraska is a desirable place to live, along with volleyball. For me personally, I scan the look of the crowds at the games and I know for a fact that there’s probably zero chance I see myself being comfortable living there.

Lol agreed about Nebraska crowd being 99% white. Same here, as a POC, I wouldn’t want to live there. If I was a student athlete, the school and city’s diversity would play an important factor.

Yea lol I didn’t want to be too harsh about it but living in a diverse community is important to me and working with a lot of students and student athletes, a TON feel the same. Thankfully for them, most of their lives are spent within the bubble of campus life and college campus’s tend to be a little more diverse then the surrounding areas of a lot of these places, it does make a big difference for many.

Careful! You’re gonna strike a nerve with these Husker fans for pointing out facts! Hehe Such racism.... how is this post allowed to stay on the board? Please edit post or it will be reported to proboards It’s literally not? It’s not a secret that the Husker crowds are majority white and that this, for some POCs, myself included, is not the vibe when it comes to being in an environment that’s diverse. Being the only minority in any situation is something I’m definitely not doing anymore.

It is translated as racism and should be edited. Your white privilege is showing. I will NOT edit because it wasn’t a racist comment but an obvious observation.

Your assumption I am white is interesting. Are we really trying to end bigotry and not see people by color? Or are we just becoming what we are trying to defeat? Be kind.
