Well yeah us Hawaii fans would prefer the tourney be played here at the Stan Sheriff Center where it will always be a sellout if not close to one but I brought up Vegas as an alternate site that would be fair for all fans. Again, Hawaii is not really a Bball state so as a typical Hawaii fan I really don't know much about BW Bball attendance and whether that translates in any way to BW Men's & Women's Vball attendance so I can't really speak to any of your comments regarding BW Bball. All I know is that if the Vball tourney is held on the mainland and Hawaii fans have to travel, they would much rather travel to Las Vegas than any of the BW member sites (no offense to BW member schools and their fans). I know I would anyway...

The tournament was voted on before this commissioner was hired. What else is he supposed to say? He was hired to promote the BW, but buying into something he didn't believe in would also wear out in the long run. Also, Dan Butterfly came in with a reputation for turning conferences into successes like he did in the MW. In the past week, the MW has contracted with the Pac 2 to partner in football for the next two years. He left the MW in good hands, and his leadership is what gave the MW a presence as a top mid-major conference before leaving for the BW. If he didn't believe in tournaments, he wouldn't be here. Thanks for this tidbit about Butterfly. I did not know what his resume and impact was like at the MW. |

What a classy guy Tyler is. He has a good core returning next year so I expect that he'll make the tourney next year. Tyler is a class act and a very likable coach. I know The Beach is a rival but I like their coaching staff and team. I’m sure the Beach will be very good next year. |

Agree about Tyler and his staff and team. What really stood out to me is how well the Beach carried themselves on the court.
This was especially apparent when they were locked in battle with UCSB. The Gaucho players are feisty and like to stare down but the Beach women really kept it calm and all about their side all while still maintaining a competitive attitude.
Look if I'm Nat Glenn and McKnight's has been eyeing me up and down all match like that, I block that bit then have some very carefully curated words for her.
Tyler and his version of Long Beach State Volleyball has already elevated the play in the Big West. Bravo LBSU!

Head spot at CSUN opening up. John Price announces his retirement. He was named the Head Coach (Director of Women's Volleyball) back in 2022, and spent time as an assistant for the men/women and was a head coach at Cal State Bakersfield for a while.
