Cai Bin has been slammed by Chinese fans for having the same starting line-up throughout the entire VNL (well not exactly the same, but I digress). They think this will tire out the players and does not give enough opportunity for the sub and new players to show their value on court. Not to mention allowing ample opportunity for their opponents to thoughly study them and come up with strategies against China. And they also suggested Cai Bin is too stupid and incompetent to manage roster changes on the fly to adapt to a match. Hence why they are calling him to be fired. Cai Bin responded to the criticism by saying he needs to train these players. Not a very convincing answer, to put it mildly. Or perhaps he is not willing to disclose the real reason for sticking with the same roster for fear of letting other teams on to their secrets. Whatever the cause, it does seems like Cai Bin is set in his ways. Which is why Chinese fans are also calling him a pig-headed moron. Now I suppose if somehow China pulls off another upset and beat Brazil in the upcoming match, some of the venom directed at Cai Bin from the fans might be...lessen in severity. Brazil has been showing some weaknesses in week 3 and they do look a little shaky, so its not impossible for China to beat Brazil. Then again, Brazil do tend to do better in the final rounds, so China would still be the underdog in that match. |

yall are sleeping on how bad Karakurt’s defense in 6 is (its horrendous) and the fact that her court awareness is often…lacking. For me, her at OH is more of an impact sub thing than a dependable option. Turkey’s best chance of winning big matches is passing well (which theyre capable of), defending and blocking well (which theyre capable of), and Vargas going off (which she’s capable of) with Karakurt used as a front row sub at a key juncture or a few. Like I said, if the answer to the first question is yes they can win then you don't do it. Keeping in mind Karakurt is also what, 23? Her serve/spike/block can impact the game more than her floor defence ever will one way or the other. As discussed, reception is the issue. But hey, no risk it no biscuit  On to USA and the semi. Awesome. |
