1. Apparently we need to clarify to some nimrods that there is more than one "sister of Kerri Walsh."
2. Here's my list: Katie Schumacher, Robyn Guokas, Mischka Levy, Kathleen Shannon, Ella Harley, Breegan Mulligan

And it's KERRI Walsh, not KARI.
Even the pronunciation is different. It's Kerri like raspberry, not Kari like raspbarry.

These two girls didn't even stay at UH...I think Stevens transfered out after her freshman year and Bradley after her sophomore year. Not sure where Stevens went, but Bradley I think went to Utah. Didn't Stevens go to Cal and then dropped out? As far as I know she graduated. She played in '98 until her shoulder gave out. She tried coming back in '99, but the shoulder wouldn't hold up. Her stats were 6 games in 5 matches. 4 kills/1 error/11 attacks/.273. calbears.collegesports.com/sports/w-volley/archive/060600aac.htmlI remember her well. I saw her in the crowd of a men's club match where she complemented an Arizona player on his nice ahem.......serve. OK - it was something else, but this is a "family" board.

For instance, I think Dillon has had a decent college career. I didn't think she was going to be Debbie Green, and she wasn't. Meendering...I don't think she had a disappointing career. A good follow up to this would be for everyone to say why they think it is that these athletes didn't have tremendous college careers. Was it because they weren't that good to begin with? Was it because of the school? Injuries or illness? For instance, I think Freeburg just went to the wrong school USC's system was not built for a setter to come in and take over the reins. She should have gone somewhere where she could have set a 5-1.

calabriavb, you have some good names but a lot of them are STILL playing college ball. I think you have to wait until their respective college careers are over before you make a judgment about whether they were disappointing or not.
...and Nancy Metcalf?? You've got to be kidding! She was All-World in college. If your criteria is whether they won a national title, then you have to broaden your list to include the likes of:
Kim Willoughby Lily Kahumoku Kristee Porter Sarah Noriega Dana Burkholder Lindsey Berg Stacey Gordon Aury Cruz etc.
I can't think of a player who's had a more disappointing career than Kim Willoughby cuz the Wahine certainly did not win the title with her on the floor.

Not that disappointing. Kristee Porter or any player from UCLA is more disappointing.

Umm...I was being sarcastic because calabriavb mentioned Nancy Metcalf simply because she didn't win a national title. Sheesh!

Quite a few people have posted what I’m thinking but anyway… Do we have a criteria what a “disappointing college career should mean? Some of the players on that list are still playing and some of them still have years ahead of them in order to prove themselves (Carter, Barboza, Richards, Lyman, etc). Some others like Metcalf, Bachman, Crawford, Barboza, Richards are an active part of the current NT. NM and LB played during the OG in Athens. If this not a recognition, what else? …..Some players just develop and mature later than others.
We all know about Metcalf redshirting a year in order to practice with the NT team and eventually play at Sydney’s OG…..it turned out she was the last cut and exactly that season NU won it all without her. It was her decision of course but is she hadn’t done that she would definitely have been on the floor in all FF games. However if it is the championship ring is what determines a successful college career why I see A Robinson and J Harvey there?

Being on the recruiting side of the sport the major recruting services identify players that are capable of making a contributions to winning National Championships. West Coast servives for example add players like Megan Hodge and identify her as an athlete that has the potential to lead her team to the "Promised Land", and the Midwest Scouting Report likewise identifies players like Alexis Klineman as a player with similar capabilities.
As for Nancy, current NT stats have nothing to do with the question presented "What HS stars had.....?" She was supposed to be the next Reitsma...no ring!
A side note: I like Nancy very nice girl very good player but I had a chance to watch her in Colorado before Athens and IMHO she is not the type of player to take over a match and go for it at the end of matches. I have also seen her play in Puerto Rico and Italy and the same is true, she is not the same aggressive player competing against Danielle, Logan, and even Tayyiba. She has always had the tools but a litle timid in crunch time.
Robinson and Harvey, played very very little during their title runs.
I guess it is all relative and the question depending on how it is read is open for interpretation. With that said I wouls also add:
Lily Kahumoku Kristee Porter Katie Goldham
As far as Barbosa, your right I should wait, but my experience tells me she will be just another good college player.

I would take Richards any day. She can cover more court defensively than any other outside who comes to mind and is a threat on offense as well. Also, she did play on a national championship team, so that has to mean something.

Like I said.... no credibility!!!! Metcalf is playing with Scott and Haneef and continue's to put up bigger numbers and win MVP over both.......
