Well..not really disappointing college careers, but more that they did not live up to the hype. Who are your picks? Some that come to mind are Jessica Sudduth-HAWAII (didn't everyone think she would become an all-american?), Sara Sandrik&Anna Robinson-STANFORD, Anna Schrad&Ally Rebholz-NEBRASKA, Niki Hartley and Jessica Reister-FLORIDA,

I'm disappointed in Gysin of USC, but that's because of her being injured and not getting a chance to play as opposed to players who played but didn't play as well as had been expected. So I'm sure she's not someone you were thinking of.

I also thought Jennifer Carey (HAWAII) would have been all world considering all the hype she got comingout of HS...she did fairly well, but not as well as i thought.

Jessica Sudduth was never fully healthy during her 4 years at Hawaii. When she graduated even Shoji said that he felt she would have been an All-American if she had been healthy.

So I'm sure she's not someone you were thinking of. Gysin hurt her ankle her freshman year but did play in one match against Washington St and she was GREAT and then re-injured her ankle which eventually needed surgery. If they had her last year it might have the missing link to win their third consecutive championship. She was the best player on the team before she blew out her knee this summer.

UH had a bunch of them: Jameka Stevens, Adrienne Bradley, etc.
Janae Henry of USC.
UCLA had several.
A whole bunch from Stanford.
Long Beach State is not immune.
Let's not forget Nebraska.
Oh, and there's UC Santa Barbara.
Pepperdine...don't get me started.
In 5 years, we can talk about Arizona and examine how well the current crop did.

Whatever happened to Kerri Walsh's sister? Can't even remember her name, but didn't she go to Long Beach?

I think the whole issue comes down to the fact some prep-players get too much media exposure and sometimes it doesn’t correspond to their actual quality as opposed to some others who are better but don’t get any. All of a sudden people start thinking the ones from group 1 are the best and expect great things from them that are never going to happen. That’s where all these stories about “unfortunate HS star who spent her career riding the bench at X university” and the opposite ones about “raw diamonds found in the dirt” get their birth from…..apparently some starts weren’t that bright and some diamonds weren’t that raw.
BTW that’s why I don’t like all these “prep-stars’, “HS aces”, etc. rankings….there is too much subjectivity and bias over there.

Too much subjectivity equals a disapppointing collegiate career when really there should be little reason for disapoointment. Btw, can you change your profile pic foreignball? I find that EU logo a bit offensive.
