About the Oppo position.....I think out of all the positions on the court that may be our most vulnerable one and the one I worry about the most. Libero pulling up from the rear. Alaka'i, you've had what amounts to 5 years waiting in the wings for this moment to start. I truly hope you ball out this year and put in your all cause we gonna need production from that side. Both you and Oguz gotta hold the line out there. I believe now Go Bows! Hey maybe they'll give Thiim a shot at OPP, he might be a tad short, but the kid's got fire inside him. He can be the Mugsy Bogues of Volleyball. Probably too short for OPP but could be a left side hitter who won't pass. Chaz and Spyros will be the passers with one of them hitting left once and twice on the right. Wade wants Keoni in the lineup because of his serving. As a specialist, Keoni is only available once a set. If he's in the lineup, UH can benefit from him serving more than once a set.

Tread is a big hulk of man with his blocking and that will be huge that our previous setters didn't have. I don't know. I see him more as tall and lanky than a hulk. Hulk is like Patrick Gasman IMO. Hopefully Tread is an effective blocker because he's not as physically mature as someone like Kauling. I guess you just have to be able to get your arms up and over the net, but considering UCLA basically out physicalled UH in last years finals, it is an area of concern. He does need to fill out, allow his body to mature, and hit the weights as far as I'm concerned. Doesn't mean he couldn't be effective now, but he's a 17year old in a man's sport. It also worries me that someone like Kainoa Wade is striving to do the same thing, enroll early. Volleyball isn't as physical as some other sports like football or even basketball...there is a net between the two teams...but it isn't all finesse either. I do trust Coach Wade to know what's best for these kids and the team. Tread is certainly tall but def not lanky especially in person and if you stand next to him. I'm 6'3, 240lbs and that young man is tall and has some girth on him which surprised me seeing him. Lanky is Kurt or Maulia Labare. Gasman in my view is beyond hulk lol....dude was the size of an NFL tight end. He had his own description for himself. Hahahah

And if he were....Kauling would have a whole lot more playing time in the off season than he has been given. That's probably for an obvious reason....they like exactly what Tread brings to the table. And I'm all for it. Tbh, whomever ends up starting will have a suitable back up for sure. And that's good all around if you are a Hawaii fan.

Well he certainly was built like one too which isn't a bad thing at all! Hahaha

Idk I think that Tread is phenomenal but I would not be surprised if his leash is short during the actual season

Idk I think that Tread is phenomenal but I would not be surprised if his leash is short during the actual season I wouldn't doubt it especially if you have an All-American former Lewis starting setter waiting on the bench. Having options after the great Jakob Thelle is certainly not a bad thing and actually a great dilemma for us. Hehehe And I think the best thing of it all is that these two will push each other in the practice gym to improve even more.

I’m glad Tread was getting in work with some of the non starters or guys hungry for a spot, but it’s going to come down to who is connecting best with the other 3 players.

Hmm, I believe its less of a hurdle going NAIA to NCAA academically, so I'm guessing he's gonna take care of what he needs to then come back to UH in a year or so.

Because his credentials and experience alone he could easily get picked up by a D1/D2 school. Him going the NAIA route makes me speculate that maybe he will need to work on things academically and then possibly return at a later time to UH. Now whether that happens or not we wish Aleksa the best!

Wonder if it is grades that influenced his decision; or if it a eligibility problem with him from possibly playing Professional over in Serbia

Maybe pull something like what Nolan Flexen did going from Grand Canyon --> Masters --> UC Irvine, given that the 4-4-4 rule about skipping a year is gone
