Hmm, I believe its less of a hurdle going NAIA to NCAA academically, so I'm guessing he's gonna take care of what he needs to then come back to UH in a year or so. Wonder if it is grades that influenced his decision; or if it a eligibility problem with him from possibly playing Professional over in Serbia That makes the most sense to me

This is the issue with recruiting heavy on the international front, so many more things bring issues.
But I guess if we have Sakanoko for sure in January we’ll have options, but that’s an IF.
Think I would rather have Tread redshirt unless he’s by far the better option, just for the sake of having 4 seasons of the Tread to Finn connection.

I understand but that but this boy is Andrew Rowan good. Does Charlie them sit what may be the better option and one of the best chances to try and win a title with their Senior core starters (whom are 2x national champs and know how to win) or sit him in what will be a rebuilding year next season with what may be a whole brand new starting lineup with just Eleu and Kurt being the possible returning starters? It's interesting to think about for sure.

He passes the eye test for sure but we won’t actually know how good he is until he faces top D1 competition but from the looks of the schedule, it seems like Wade is more interested in developing the next generation of warriors so it may just end up being Tread for better or worse

The goal is to win a national championship every year so you give the Senior core starters their best shot. Otherwise, you're wasting their time and they should just turn pro. The coaches have to believe that they will have a steady stream of talent so aim high every year. We shall see what they decide next month. Meanwhile, all the best to Mandic. He has to do what's best for him.

Exactly, thats why I really think they need to redshirt. I guarantee you he not redshirting. And if he were....Kauling would have a whole lot more playing time in the off season than he has been given. That's probably for an obvious reason....they like exactly what Tread brings to the table. And I'm all for it. Tbh, whomever ends up starting will have a suitable back up for sure. And that's good all around if you are a Hawaii fan. Oh I know he isn't redshirting LOL. I wish he did though so he can set all 4 years for Finn & 3 for Kainoa.

If Tread is the better option and as it stands all the playing time over Kauling shows me at least for now....they have tagged Tread as that person. You redshirt what may be the better setter in order to play 4 seasons with the upcoming generation of players...what's the sense of Chaz, Voss and Spyros sticking around? If you the best....I expect Charlie them to stick them on the court. I'm sure this senior group expects the best players on the court with them and not waiting in the wings for another season. I think this is the lineup they go with come Jan2024: OH1: Chakas OH2: Galloway SET: Rosenthal LIB: Choy M1: Voss M2: Nuerster OPP: Todd/Oguz DS: Thiim My biggest concern is at Oppo. Alakai and Oguz need to play up because we are gonna need offensive production on that side to open it up. When Charlie put in Thiim at Oppo against Tsukuba on the Japan trip..a lot of that was to allow Thiim to serve more consistently being on the floor vs when as a SS. It was more to see what it would look like. I mean, that option has to be a last resort option and would only be pulled if Todd and Oguz can't get it done. Well I hope they can and do play up!

Since NAIA can have 8 scholarship's per team and D1 is only 4.5, maybe he couldn't afford to go to Hawaii (there is a reason so many of the 23's moved to Hawaii their senior year in HS). Playing for Hawaii is great, but being able to eat every day is pretty important as well.

Talent like this doesn't redshirt, I can't think of one player in the past 10 years that did that who was as ready as Tread is. Tread likely will be too good for college in 4 years. The question that will be answered this season is, AA good or just starter good his freshman year.

He’s only as good as he makes the rest of the team.

Ain't no way you waste that talented young man on the bench until next season which would be an absolute rebuilding year! If he is the best then you play the best! We playing every year to win National Championships, correct?

I have that same lineup prediction in mind too, though I don't expect Alaka'i to show up this late in his career. It's all in the hands of Oguz at this point. Fingers crossed he gets the opportunity to improve throughout the season.

After this whole Mandic situation it does make you think the coaching staff are better off going after recruits that don't pose a lot of loopholes to go through. Same situation for Sakanoko, hopefully they did their research and checked paperwork to make sure he is available come January.
