How can UC IRVINE be ranked before Hawaii, after Hawaii won two out of three matches? Politics. It’s no biggie at this late stages. We will get a crack at them one way or another at the BWT. We just need to win our matches and we’re good. If we make it to the final with LBSU, I feel we will leap ahead of them for an at large due to us being 3 wins vs 1 against them head to head. If it’s UH and UCI in the final, then it will be “Winner takes all” because LBSU will get the at large and the winner moves on with the loser staying home. Best case scenario for Hawaii….LBSU sweeps UCI. Hawaii sweeps UCSD. UH at 3 seed and UCI at 2 seed so we avoid LBSU until the final. We get to the final against LBSU means that we would have had to beat UCI to get to the final. UH would then have a 3-1 head to head over UCI. Icing on cake would be UH beat LBSU but it’s a tall task. I’m not sure which MPSF team would leap over UH for an at large there. Of course, it could screw up things if UCLA doesn’t win the tournament. Bottom line…win out we in. Possible bottom line…get to the BWT final, we likely in. GO WARRIORS! SHOW EM WHO’S BOSS!

He’s already enrolled in classes from what I understand. That’s the real confirmation.

Can’t wait for him to get to work here and start a new era with Kristian, Ofeck, Finn and the rest of this young and talented freshman class. Also interested to see the other pieces in the work like transfers and potentially Adrien will bring a friend with him.

Finn, being only 6-5, will have a hard time playing OPP at the next level. Of course, Charlie seeing what a left handed OH can do in Hillr Henno, Charlie is looking to turn Finn into another Hillr Henno.

Well I'm more optimistic that Finn can turn into a OH than Kainoa even though he's left handed. More essential that an OH can pass as opposed to hit. Ideally you want both. . Finn can bend his legs and get down. I haven't seen much of it from Kainoa. In order to pass, you need to be able to bend and get low. If you can't pass, you get served off the court and you're forever out of system which leads to losses.

Milan's ability to speak French, Bulgarian, Serbian, and Greek has benefited UH throughout the years. It's funny how Siki's recruitment bolstered Warrior volleyball's future.
Wondering if Milan can bring in a Russian recruit too

I'd like to see UH recruit a Japanese player or someone from Asia. UH has travelled to Japan a couple times in the last handful of years for preseason. Hopefully Wade is building contacts. Additionally Hogland is now playing in Japan, so maybe he can give UH some tips. It was Colton Cowell that sent us Sakanoko and then presumably opened the door to Roure.
The Japanese style of play is of particular interest. Typically they are pesky on defense and keep balls alive. If UH can develop better defensively that would be a plus.

Hogland seems on track to gain some decent recognition in the V League (Newcomer of the year and named to the national team (not the active roster yet)), so hopefully he can open a solid pipeline there. UH Basketball and Football both have players from Japan so the pipeline isn't anything new to UH, just not something the volleyball team has used before.

Yea I’m still in the camp of going after the big mainland and local recruits first and supplementing with foreign players.
But definitely excited to see the young talent come in from places we’ve established solid relationships with (France, Bulgaria, etc) but idk if we necessarily need to go shopping around in different countries.
Still have to consider team cohesion and chemistry.

We got one of Japan's top young baseball prospect on Itsuki Takemoto. Yes, a Japanese volleyball player would be awesome.

I also hope that all the domestic recruits that are firmly within the USA pipeline get trained up and are able to take their game to the next level if that's what they want. LBSU has done a good job with this.
