Interesting that Hawaii's loss to UC San Diego did not hurt them in the AVCA Poll. They are still #5 in this week's poll. There was a shake up though in the Top 4 teams. UCLA is now #1, LBSU dropped one, is now #2, UC Irvine moved up 1 to #3, and GCU dropped one is now #4. I mean even with Hawaii laying an egg in that series....they still are top-5. Which actually stings even more considering how inconsistent this team is without Spyros....what they would have been with him still playing. But it is what it is.

I truly believe Hawaii will beat UCSB. Hawaii's critical match will be against UC Irvine, in the semi-finals. Not because UC Irvine is a quality team, but more so that, since Spyros Chakas got injured, Hawaii has not been able to put together quality back to back matches. One of the main reasons for this is that the players that are on the floor this is their first year starting, except for one, Voss. Also, 2 of those players are true Freshmen, play a major roll in the starting lineup. We all know Freshmen have a difficult time playing consistently, and are more up and down in their play. This is where I believe Chaz Galloway and Kevin Kauling can play a major part, with their D1 experience level. Hopefully, Charlie Wade does not wait to long to use these 2 players. Otherwise, it could cost the Hawaii team from playing any further, then the UC Irvine match. If by chance, Hawaii gets by UC Irvine, I can see them beating LBSU, for the BWC Tournament Title. The reason only being Hawaii's up and down play, they would be on an UP.

Same with playing a guy who clearly is injured and it impacts his game. Please never coach volleyball.

Other commenters noticed that Steve and Laura were basically the same person, but then Steve/Laura comes out and claims that Steve and Laura are actually siblings! I believe there were threats against Cindy and this entity was banned. The MO has always been the same. Pick apart the team, latch on to one or two players each season, and pick on them relentlessly. This time, it's Chaz.

Much better input from them.

Cole had not been ahead of Keoni this year. Keoni even played some A side around fall scrimmages. He has really stepped up his all around game this year and fans should be very proud of him. I agree! This is actually something I was thinking about, whether Ottmar would have had a chance at the starting spot over Thimm and Sakanoko. Thimm had him beaten on general depth, but he also is kind of carried by the absolutely massive upside that is his serve. Sakanoko similarly brings an upside in his offensive production, but with liabilities, especially as a passer. I don't remember much from Ottmar, but I do remember him not having any large liabilities or upsides, so to say. A solid all rounder that maybe could have sealed the gaps left by Spyros, rather than leave them and try to cover up by throwing a new upside at opposing teams.

I believe fans would've seen Ottmar more if he was pushing for playing time. Plus, both Louis and Thiim have grown a lot since Spyros went down. Now it's a matter of consistency.

I guess my train of thought was both Sakanoko and Thimm pushed for playing time by having aspects to their game the current starters didn't already have going for them, Thimm's serve being the obvious example. Ottmar had nothing like that going for him, so he wasn't fighting against a starter for playing time. But if he's say, an even 80% (the actual number is probably way different) of what Spyros can bring to the table in all aspects of the game, could he maybe be a better choice than Sakanoko, who is like 95% of the offense, but 60% of the floor defense? No means to push against the the starters, but in their absence the one who could most comfortably step into the role with the least necessary adjustment for the team.

I unblocked wf44, cause the posts are different. Wf is incoherent all of the time and rambles a lot and is an online bully to student athletes.
