I don't want to watch any of the press, seeing any videos of the match on youtube, or watch local news tonight. I don't want to see anything about the loss lol. Match has not been posted on YouTube. If I were to watch it i would fast forward to set 2 and will only watch dat set 🤣

I’ve seen him do it on a rare day at a home game, but you’re correct in that he’s not really trained as a right. But the consensus I’ve seen is that Chakas is too good to take away from the left. Might not be true this season compared to last, it could be interesting seeing if the change in pace helps Spyros take his groove back. If I'm not mistaken I read or heard it somewhere that Spyros had played in that opposite position before arriving at Hawaii. Yea Chakas is listed as OH/ Opp

Next year will be fun. Would have been more fun after having won tonight though. Lol But I digress.
Hawaii will be playing with a chip on their shoulders for sure. Reminds me a little of going into the 2020 season. Some AA returning, though losing a lot of big time key players. Not being expected to do well…so for sure coming in as underdogs. Although, unlike that season no clear cut POY candidate on the team heading into next season.
However, the one thing hard to judge will be how the rest of the field turns out. UCLA, UCI, Loyola, and OSU have all got to be preseason faves… but you just never know.

Will be interesting to see which returning players step up next year. Every year there are players that make that giant leap, from just being okay, to outstanding. Looking forward to seeing which players make that giant leap. Just like, no one really thought after Joe Worsley graduated, Jakob Thelle would have been this good. Who knows, Alakai Todd could be one of those players who makes that giant leap to outstanding. It all comes down to how seriously they take off season weight training, and workouts. But the one thing I do know Head Coach Charlie Wade and Top Assistant Milan Zarkovic will have the boys ready for battle, next year. Being in the National Championship Title Match 4 years in a row, no other NCAA Team can say that.

Kai Rodriguez is going to be a UH fan favorite from the get go. UH has an amazing season but faced a strong UCLA team. 4 finals in a row is something to celebrate for sure!

This sounds silly but Chakas is a primary passer and if he plays opposite he wouldn’t be passing right?

No matter what, for a team to reach the National Championship Title Match, they will have to beat Hawaii first. The last 4 years has proved that. Hawaii will be ready for another National Championship Title Match run next year, and the years following. The only thing I am hoping for is that Hawaii will get the opportunity to host the NCAA Tournament in 2026. The Hawaii fans and team deserve the right to host the NCAA Tournament. It will be a criminal insult to Hawaii, if the NCAA does not allow Hawaii to host the NCAA Tournament.

This sounds silly but Chakas is a primary passer and if he plays opposite he wouldn’t be passing right? If Kai Rodriguez is a good passer, it might not matter. We shall see.

This sounds silly but Chakas is a primary passer and if he plays opposite he wouldn’t be passing right? The 2002 championship team had Eyal Zimet at the opposite position but he was one of the main passers as he was phenomenal at serve receive.

I am glad a different poster has decided to make this thread. It seems like the same old fogey always ends up being the one to beat everyone to it. Thank you. Can you just shut the entire f*** up for once?

Man... my heart hurts. But thank you all for setting up some conversations already for next year to help take my mind off things. So proud to be a UH fan, and no matter what, this 2023 team - and especially the seniors - is and will forever be legendary. ---- If Hawaii doesn't get any transfers (which I know won't be the case). I'd move Sheward to setter because that's the position that needs the most consistency given the fact four viable players return at hitting positions (Chakas, Galloway, Voss, Nusterer) and Hawaii runs such a complex offense, you'd hate to change things with these four players around for one more year. For libero, I think Hawaii will be fine with Rodriguez, Sears, and Choy vying for the position. koavball said Rodriguez will be hard to keep off the court, so I wouldn't be surprised if he's the libero OR ends up as the OH2 and Chakas goes opposite OR Hawaii runs a three pin hitter offense where everyone just takes a swing on the right with Chakas being the main one on paper (a la Theocharides, Ching, Zimet). The big question mark is who the transfers Hawaii may bring in at setter and opposite. Koa seems to already know some players in the queue. I'd be very hesitant to start a transfer setter (unless they can connect with the returning four and run Hawaii's offense to a T), but a high-tier libero and opposite transfer would be great. And I'm sure some have already reached out. With all due respect, you can tell the current bench/redshirts were not the high-targets the 2024 recruiting class and DEFINITELY the 2025 recruiting will be. Hawaii had to hold out scholarship money for the graduation of the 2023 seniors and the 2024 seniors. I agree depth might be an issue next year... but Wade has things down pat and has been successful despite major waves of player graduating from Van Tilberg/J. Worsley/Solbrig to Rado/Cowell/Gasman/G. Worsley, Thelle/Hogland/Mouchlias, and Sheward/Galloway/Chakas/Voss next year. OK enough from me lol. Sigh. Still sucks

Obviously, I could care less, so go back to your hole on the women’s boards.
