Here's a question for everyone. NED3VBALL has Calvin as his 8th Pool C, so pretty safely in. They lost to Albion last night and will be the 3 seed in the MIAC tournament, going to Albion again, where I'm sure we all expect them to win the rematch and play Hope again. However, they just got beat there so if that were to happen again, have they done enough to get in? If Calvin loses to Albion again, with a 4-4 record vs ranked, at that point they could have 3 unranked loses, and losing 4 of their last 6 matches... are they still a lock to get into the tournament? Could we see a situation where Calvin is on the bubble? And just to be clear, I'm not questioning how good Calvin is, I'm wondering/questioning how good their resume is through an NCAA lens. I just did a quick rip on selecting 21 Pool C teams and I took Calvin in Round 14, later than I thought I would have when looking initially, but still in the field without too much stress. btw, I selected two Region VIII teams not in this week's regional rankings (Millikin and UW-Platteville). Region III had no at-large selections (expected, but I hate it for my home region) and Region IV had none after NYU was the slam dunk #1 overall Pool C pick. DePauw was my Pool A from the NCAC and Ohio Wesleyan ended up as my 3rd to last team in. My last in/first out were Tufts/Saint Benedict and I was pretty 50-50 on that one.

Is region determined by geography or is it determined by conference? Conference, based on geography...kind of. There are some exceptions for those conferences that span multiple geographic regions, for example the UAA has teams spread across several regions, as does the Coast 2 Coast. Maybe some other examples too, but those are the ones I can think of. Otherwise, conferences are typically all contained in the same region. UAA and C2C are the only 2 exceptions.

I think Calvin will be OK. record is fine. SOS is fine. The "value" (my calc) of their ranked W/L is strong. The committee should notice that. It is not part of my 64 projection but since they announced RPI as a secondary criteria I researched the formula, emailed a few people, and have it in my tables. I think my RPI projection is pretty good. They have a strong RPI and good results versus top 50 and top 100.

My compare 2 teams program has St. Benedict 4.25 over Tufts at 1.25. Tufts has been shaky all year, they beat Trinity(TX) early and thenslowly coasted downhill from there.

Looks like Westfield State is a good bet for the UMass Boston Pool A With a Losing Record Award. The Owls are 9-17 but undefeated in the MASCAC heading into tomorrow's league finale at Fitchburg State, which should be a W. Somehow MCLA is their biggest threat in the conference tournament.

Yeah, 14 ish is probably more likely - bubble adjacent. And if Platteville gets in that helps Calvin because that is one of their good wins that isn't quite a ranked win.

Fri Top 100. Eau Claire needs this one for the resume. Big rankings battle for Olaf and Benedict. Same for Mary Washington and Chris Newport. Time zone?? Updated start time? Double check your matches of interest. Thank You richkern.com for the schedule data.

Does anyone know what's going on at Washington Adventist? They supposedly hired a new coach in August, but then cancelled all of their matches after announcing a schedule. She seems to have been named as a local club coach and her bio mentions her Washington Adventist position, but I just saw the job opening again.... They're not a D3 school. I think they're an independent D2. I was wrong, they're NAIA not NCAA Division II.
