5:00am ET and they already have the seeds posted, thought this would take longer. 1) Oshkosh 8) CMS 4) Hope 5) Johns Hopkins 2) Juniata 7) Trinity(TX) 3) NYU 6) Northwestern(MN) Tough draw for the hosts. I like 1, 2, 4, and 6 to advance. They made sure they got home to host. Then promptly fed them to the wolves

So they used to update the numbers after the first weekend and I assume they still do so we won't have the numbers they use - I don't think.
CMS beat Trinity on the same court that the finals will be played on, and CMS was ranked ahead of Trinity in the final Region X ranking, but Trinity is ahead of CMS now? Trinity recorded wins over Berry and Emory, and I can see where that is more impressive than Salisbury and MIT but is it that much better as to jump CMS, really? And FWIW, I think Juniata and Oshkosh have both earned the right not to have to play a road game in the first match.
I think CMS at 6, Northwestern 7 and Trinity 8 would have been a slightly better tournament. As it is Oshkosh's road to the final is the host team and a Big 10 OH in VanderWeide, and then the defending champ. Juniata plays 2 of last years final four any way it goes and then presumably Oshkosh. It certainly looks like whoever wins this thing will have earned it!

A match up of last year's National Championship in the first round. This is going to be a fun stretch of matches! Looking forward to seeing it in person this year.

If they play tomorrow, the banquet must be tonight, but they don't announce the All-America teams until this afternoon. Have the players been notified in case they wanted to attend the banquet or are they not inviting the All-Americans from non-finals teams anymore?

All-America is out.
The only freshman on 1/2/3rd team is an OH from a finals team...
Anyone else surprised to see Grace Nelson on 2nd team and not Sami Perlberg who is an Honorable Mention?

Just a quick look and yes, seems like Perlberg had better numbers. Again, quick look, did not deep dive into individual match stats...it is possible that Nelson outperformed against nationally ranked opponents. Looks like NYU had 9 such matches, vs OshKosh's 11. Also, feel free to fact check me, but I don't think Nelson played 6 rotations regularly.

As someone who played against NYU this year, Nelson definitely deserves it. She is an absolute stud and the best serve receive passer on the team. She was the impressive pin this year, which says a lot because the others are also very good.

It's just that from what I had seen and heard I expected Perlberg to get a little more respect.

We are off to a good start with that match. Picked it up a few points into set 4 while still trying to work. Got the feeling Northwestern was turning the corner, but, NYU is good at shaky off a bad stretch. Nelson with 23 kills. Will watch this one later. On to match 2. I am going to be up late.

Everyone ready for two "upsets" in the last two quarters?

The final match of today isn't likely to start until almost 9:30 pm (41 minutes after conclusion of regional trophy ceremony). NCAA may need to consider the timing of the 4-match day a bit more.

Everyone ready for two "upsets" in the last two quarters? So far, there have been no upsets according to seeds. This last match is going to be BRUTAL for Oshkosh. This is a crazy late start time for them.
