Now that we have started conference play, the award for conference stinker goes to UCLA. To maximize NCAA tournament bids and seeds, the goal was for these teams: Stanford, WSU, Oregon, Washington, UCLA, Cal, ASU, and Colorado OR USC to not take any losses to Utah, OSU, Arizona, Colorado OR USC. UCLA is 1-4 against Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and USC. The LA schools continue to be such a disappointment and, relative to talent and expectations, the biggest drag on the conference for the better part of the last decade. That's right. Lay into those turncoat traitors!!

UCLA could be middle of the pack or bottom feeder. They currently do not look like a good team. I can see a few players leaving. Horrible team with lack of school support.
They played their entire non conference away from home. How can one school justify sending their student athletes on the road for every non conference game?
Mom and dad of California kids on the roster only have 11 matches to watch their daughters play in front of whatever home crowd they have.

Whereas most thought Arizona, Utah, and Oregon State would be at the bottom due to struggles in the noncon and beginning of the conference, Arizona and Utah seem to be playing better now. It could be Oregon State's year to go winless, but they nearly beat Colorado today. UCLA has been on a downward spiral. Washington showed improvement this weekend. There is still hope for them to make the post season. Still bottom 4 teams at this point seem to be:
9. Col or CAL-these two are close. 10. Arizona 11. UCLA 12. Oregon State
I can see these teams beating up each other possibly coming up.

UCLA plays a lot of non-conference games on the road because they are not in school during that period. As a quarter system school, they don't start classes until the last week of September. As for the "poor parents" of the players who have to travel to see their daughters, UCLA only has 2 players on their roster from the greater Los Angeles area.

Plenty of other schools are on quarter system; and they schedule home matches.

Do they not have non students as fans ? If the majority of the fan base is made up of students, then my point of them having no community support is a legit complaint. It’s too bad such a stories program has no support outside of the Westwood campus.

But that is still no reason, imo, not to schedule any home matches. Like others mentioned, extra traveling is harder on the SA's; and further, they get fewer practice sessions.

Don’t they get paid to go to other schools and would have to pay to being in schools? u¢la can’t pay

I don't know how Alfee feels about it, but Sealy felt traveling during the non-conference season was a good bonding experience. Since it didn't result in any missed class time, he felt it was a benefit.

Especially those overseas trips in the off season. But once the season starts, not being constantly on the road has benefits too; like extra practice sessions, extra rest, etc. For example, Coach Cook appears to favor mostly home matches for non-con. Sealy always liked to go out to Hawaii. I'm sure his players enjoyed that very much. I'm not arguing against scheduling away matches in non-conf. I was simply suggesting that scheduling ALL away matches might not be the best thing; and that just because classes haven't started yet does not mean you can't have home matches.

Congrats players.
Interesting that Skylar won over Lexi Hadrych, and Kendall over Skyy Howard. COL shafted.
