I agree, Arizona has veteran talent! They should be performing a lot better. Let's hope for a better tomorrow! It's because they went with a lineup that did not work the first match, and for the first two sets in the second one. Wilson was not effective, and Sofia was on the right instead of Stubbe. Once they went back to their go to lineup of Sofia and Hodge on the left and Stubbe on the right, they showed a lot of improvement.

But hey if Texas can lose to LBSU in their first match, let's give some grace to the losing teams today, and hope they can have a stronger second day.

5 set losses are the WORST.....just think, a few point swings here or there and we could be 10-5. I will say that the most disappointing here is Arizona. They just return too much to continually be pedestrian. I was hoping with the coaching change we'd get the Arizona that matched the on paper talent. Still a lot of season left to play to turn it around obviously, but so far Arizona gets a big fat F for helping the Pac in recent times. I know we hurl a lot of shame at the LA schools for the decline in the Pac-12 prestige in volleyball with their lackluster results despite the history, recruiting, and resources, but Arizona is surely right behind them. Lets finish the week strong Pac! As much as I want to defend my team I can’t. Our pins are so inconsistent it’s infuriating, we can’t pass and the block is nonexistent. Is it coaching, bad player projections? Rita recruited everyone on this roster so we shouldn’t be this bad.

I agree! A lot of changes and moving pieces, once they figure it out, I am sure it will turn around. Doesn't hurt to be optimistic! Hoping for a WSU upset of UL tomorrow, calling it now 3-1 WSU!

USC, UCLA, UW all had bad losses on day one.
3 of the 4 PAC-to-B1G 'jumpers' start in the crapper in their final PAC year.

6-9 is like a Big West OOC record. See Hawaii's RPI issues even when they've been really good. We're going to struggle to get many teams in the tourney unless that goes up significantly.

Pac-12 after Day One: (6-9) Stanford (1-0) W 3-0 vs U of Northern Colorado Oregon (1-0) W 3-0 vs U of San Diego WSU (1-0) W 3-0 vs Wright State Cal (1-0) W 3-0 vs Army ASU (1-0) W 3-0 vs FGCU Washington (1-1) W 3-1 vs SEL, L 2-3 vs UTEP UCLA (0-1) L 2-3 vs LSU USC (0-1) L 1-3 vs Houston Utah (0-1) L 1-3 vs UVU Colorado (0-1) L 1-3 vs UNLV Arizona (0-2) L 2-3 vs UNC, L 1-3 vs UC Davis Oregon State (0-2) L 1-3 vs KENN, L 2-3 vs MTST Ugh, waking up to this. I knew about the UW and one UA loss, but 6-7 vs non Power 5....sigh...0-2 vs P5. B1G inheriting 2-3 and Big 12 1-4...Remaining PAC at least has a winning record.

BIG win for Cal though as they shell Army. Any win this year for Cal will be appreciated by Bears fans.

Much better start to the day for the PAC. 5-0. Wins by WA, CAL, OSU, Utah, and ASU. Afternoon games starting up soon with some more challenging matches for AZ, UCLA, and USC. Let's see if CAL and WSU can continue their winning records, and if COL can turn it around on day 2. Stan and OR to finish off the night with winnable matches.

Swept by Rice, my god… USC is officially cancelled. The mediocrity of the USC program defies all logic.
