Ballard and his "jump teams" have allegedly gone to places like the Dominican Republic and Thailand under the cover of being wealthy Americans wanting to "party" (wink, wink, I guess). They wave a bunch of cash around, local pimps bring in some girls, and the jump teams grab them, even if they're older locals. This is according to several people who have been part of the teams. I don't want to put words in Garrison's mouth, but I'm guessing this is along the lines of what he was referring to. And this is a bad thing? Well, if the girls don't *want* to be "rescued", then it's actually kidnapping. So yeah, that's a bad thing. |

Is there such a thing as a volunteered 10 year old kid in the porn/sex business as opposed to one that is being trafficked? No obviously not a 10-yr-old. That fails the basic definition of "consent". But OUR did not limit their activities to children. I have mostly been talking about the movie. There is no mention of Operation Underground Railroad in the movie (from what I am aware). The movie only showed children (very young children) being held as sex slaves for which he would work to free (by posing as a pedophile, usually). From what I understand - the movie is mostly true (like every other movie based on a true story, there will be characters combined and changes to what literally happened). For me, the movie didn't violate some kind of break from reality, the theme of the movie was consistent with reality (Children are not for sale), and the movie was well done. There are going to be people offended by movies based on true stories that make breaks - but then that is the nature of a movie and fitting into 2 hours (it isn't a book). As for what this guy has done unrelated to this movie (not in this movie) - I don't know. If consenting adults were swept up while going in to free children - then tough luck, they are far from innocent. My libertarian sensitivities support consenting adults. However, I do recognize that the porn/sex industry is doing some really sick stuff with usually young girls being victimized. It is possible that many/some don't really have a rational idea of consent - and the industry they are supporting is creating demand for some really sick stuff for Children. There are many grey lines here. |
