Mountain West 2nd day results (4-6): Colorado State (1-1) L 1-3 vs. Stanford (pushed them to 4 was a good result) Watched the Stanford-CSU match; after beating UK, and giving SU a tussle, I feel they could end up on or near the top of this conference. Much spirit within this team. Backrow D is an Achilles heel, though. |

Much spirit within this team. Backrow D is an Achilles heel, though. Agreed. Beating Kentucky and taking a set off of Stanford is a great weekend. Definitely looking like the top team in the conference. |

Mountain West goes 4-2 on Sunday, and finishes the weekend with a 19-12 weekend. Decent start. Wyoming 3-0 and Boise State 2-0 are the only undefeated teams at this point. UNLV, Utah State, San Diego State, San Jose State, New Mexico, and Air Force sit at 2-1.

Wyoming 11-0 had a surprisingly strong start, though no significant signature wins.
Probably best wins for the teams were UNLV beating Colorado 3-0; Air Force and San Jose St both beating St. Marys 3-1; CSU beating Colorado 3-2 and Kentucky 3-1; and Utah State getting a win over LMU, who was RV, 3-2.

Martin and King of UNLV are very good. If UNLV had just a couple more pieces this could be a ranked team.

Utah State ends Wyoming's 11-0 undefeated streak, in a 3-2 win. These two teams seemed destined to do well in conference.
CSU losing to Boise St 2-3 was a bit surprising.
UNLV, New Mexico, and Air force all win.
Saturday brings an interesting match of CSU vs Utah State, both teams who have received votes at times.

Saturday round up:
Utah State takes care of Colorado State 3-1. Utah State goes 2-0 on the weekend.
Boise State handed Wyoming a second loss, 3-1. Boise State's Paige Bartsch led with 30 kills! So, Boise State goes 2-0 on the weekend, beating CSU and Wyoming. Paige is a force to be reckoned with.
Air Force takes care of Nevada 3-0, led by Joi Harvey with 13 kills. Air Force ends the weekend 2-0.
San Diego State and Fresno State also pick up wins.

Boise State’s Paige Bartsch is actually playing out of position as she’s been primarily a RS hitter prior to this year. BSU has lost their top two OH’s to season ending injuries so their record so far is pretty amazing. Hats off to a very under rated Sean Garus for bringing in a new setter, finding a very good libero, and getting the most out of his freshmen hitters.

Only 2 teams went 2-0 on the week: COL St beat SDSU 3-1, and then UNLV 3-0. San Jose St beat Nevada 3-1 and Fresno St 3-1.
Alot of 1-1 results over the week: Utah State beat New Mexico 3-1, but lost to Air Force 2-3. Air Force lost to Boise 3-2, whereas Boise lost to New Mexico 3-1.
Wyoming went 0-2 losing to San Diego St 1-3 and UNLV 2-3.
