Echoing the sentiment of many have before me thus far, the event was absolutely incredible. It was a life-changing experience for individuals like my young nieces who idolize the girls on the Nebraska team and want to follow in their footsteps. With all that goes on with competition, loyalties to specific teams, statistics, fandom and the innate human instinct to criticize, it is easy to forget about the intangibles that truly make this sport wonderful: the impact that it has on us and young girls like my nieces, who are the future of this sport.
Could have Nebraska played Creighton or someone who would provide more competition than UNO? Absolutely. Was the Wisconsin-Arkansas match more exciting than the Memorial Stadium match? Probably. I haven't seen the match yet, but from a competition standpoint, I have no doubt that it was more "exciting" for most who have no skin in the game with Nebraska Volleyball. However, while I myself would have been super excited with a Nebraska/Creighton match up last night for the sellout, I completely understand and support the University of Nebraska system wanting to showcase state schools. As we all know, Creighton is a private school, and perhaps that was the reason why they were not asked to participate. Who knows? Ultimately though, having UNO/UNK/Wayne St as part of the experience was fantastic exposure for those programs. There are a lot of great players in Nebraska who don't get recruited by UNL or Creighton, but can still get a quality program experience at any of the three other schools who were part of the event yesterday.
The tunnel walk gave me goosebumps and will probably be the biggest highlight of the entire event for me. It was so surreal, especially with Husker Volleyball Alumni in the tunnel cheering the former players on as they made their way through the tunnel and onto the court. Simply amazing!
Oh yeah, a new record of 92,003. That is incredible and hopefully this entire event will promote the sport of volleyball to new heights!

maybe they make this a quadrennial tradition so it's a recruiting tool for the universities involved? every recruit will get to play it at least once in their career? I really like the idea of repeating this party every four years ... make it part of the recruitment pitch. But I doubt that Cook will be the UNL coach four years from now, so that will be DBK's call to make. Speaking of DBK, it was pretty cool seeing her on the big board for the Nebraska intro

I'm sure the Wisconsin/Arkansas match was thrilling, but there are thrilling matches almost every week in college volleyball. There has never been an event in women's volleyball like what we saw last night in Lincoln. It has the potential to be a transformative event for women's volleyball in the same way the women's world cup in 1999 impacted US women's soccer.

NICE, I would like to see this as well. I just don't think Larson is personable enough to handle the psychological end of coaching. But I do still call Jordan Larson the GOAT, and she is truly passionate about the game. Personable enough? How about we find out whether she can coach at all. So many people seem to believe being a world class athlete prepares one to be a good or even great coach. This is just not true. BTW; Memorial stadium was simply incredible last night. Did I see Waldo in the North Stadium last night? We were in Row 18 of Section 34.

Kudos to the SA's of Wayne State, UNK, UNO and UNL. IMO they provided high level VB with many long rallies. UNO was a bit over-matched vs UNL, but the UNO players gave it their all throughout. If I remember correctly they fought off 2 match points. I also think the UNL coaching staff had more experience dealing with the wind and tactical changes needed to deal with it.
Both matches had many long, entertaining rallies. Congrats to the players for their good play.

Speaking of DBK, it was pretty cool seeing her on the big board for the Nebraska intro Kerri Walsh was there. I wonder what other volleyball royalties were there also. Brianna Holman, Tori Dixson, Nia Reed, DBK had a couple of cool tweets on the event, too.

When the team came out of the tunnel, former Huskers opened the doors. I was able to see DBK and Alli Weston on one side.
Anyone know who opened the other doors?
