This was one of the best days ever for me to witness an event at Memorial Stadium. Great competition from schools. Nice weather for walking through campus. Great fans. Gotta love UNK, UNO, Wayne State, and the Husker nation.

For the people wondering about CJ, here's an interview she did post-volleyball day.

When the team came out of the tunnel, former Huskers opened the doors. I was able to see DBK and Alli Weston on one side. Anyone know who opened the other doors? We just rewatched the pre-match show ... thank you for pointing this out, so we paused to look for it. My guess is that the other door was opened by Terry Pettit and his wife.

Isn't it Rachel Culwell (Schwartz) instead of DBK?

My speculation is that Kenna wants to redshirt, given that Bergen won the job. That would give her 2 full years of eligibility somewhere. She is a great setter and many teams will want to have her. John clearly likes her and has invested heavily in her. I saw him break down twice when reading her quote today. Clearly tonight was not a snub to her. Following up on this topic of Orr not playing in the Volleyball Day match. What are the latest thoughts about Coach Cook's decison to not have Kennedi see the floor that night, given she is indeed playing this season...as a service specialist? (i.e. she's not redshirting, which was the common justification presented by many as to why he chose to not have her play in the match...not just by you, roofedbybeavis...yours was just the first post I was able to find presenting this theory) Sorry if this has resurfaced elsewhere on this site somewhere and I've missed it.

Also surprised Orr never saw the court against an over matched opponent if there was no plan to redshirt her. Very strange, but Cook has handle other players in interesting ways too that left program. So who knows. Happy Orr at least gets to contribute in some way.

Well, Iowa (Women's Basketball) tried to duplicate Nebraska's blockbuster success and fell a little short. (IMO, impressive - but not as impressive as what Nebraska did. As Avis used to say, Being #2 is Hard.) Some empty seats and why did they put the court near the end zone? Kinnick capacity is 69,250

As Avis used to say, Being #2 is Hard.) Some empty seats and why did they put the court near the end zone? I think there are some elements there. 1. It's cold in Iowa in October 2. It was an exhibition, not a regular season game. I'd imagine they did that cause by the time the regular season rolls around it's MUCH colder in Iowa. And I'd guess the court placement was based on their estimate of tickets/interest. Better look to make half the stadium look full and put the court on an end than an empty looking full bowl and a court in the middle.
