From the Iowa State perspective Sophomore setter Morgan Brandt got valuable experience in a 6-2 last year & is now running the offense. She'll be a good one. Freshman pin Nayeli Gonzales was an early enrollee & looked impressive in the spring. Seems like a typically solid Cyclone squad. Pam McCune & Annie Hatch are other names to watch.

GCU's friday night match has no tickets available for purchase, it's a 'student-only' game as a part of Welcome Week festivities. I don't think I've ever seen that before - it even says there's no tickets for the neutral match of Arizona/Iowa State before the GCU game.

The GCU students were lined up to get into the early match. Not a small line, either. It's a really nice crowd of kids. Other than that, it's reserved for people on the pass list and the GCU student-athletes from what I can tell. |

Extremely even first set. ISU ends up taking it 27-25. Both teams had set points.

Another close one goes ISU's way. 25-22 in S2. Both teams went on runs going up by as many as 4 points. Cyclones better in the big moments.
