Lot of positives for The Badgers tonight. I am saddened to learn that The Badgers are pretty much guaranteed to end up as losers at the end of the season. Apparently, this is so because The 6-2 Sucks Rule ["The Rule"] controls.
I am disappointed to learn that, in spite of his years of experience and modest record of success over the years, Kelly Sheffield isn't aware of The Rule. Apparently, his judgment as to the best system for his current group of players is irrelevant; again, The Rule controls. I guess the players aren't aware either. Surely TTA and Carter Booth would have gone elsewhere if only they had known about The Rule. I am sure The Badgers will try hard anyway; the old college try as it were. Some of them have a lot of attitude and that may help. I will root for The Badgers no matter what. I like a group of scrappy girls who enjoy sports and collegial competition, even if it's only for fun.
Here's to a good, fun season, no matter what.

I think Sheffield is already thinking 5-1 when Fuerbringer comes in next year. I think he told Hammil that and that is why she decided to move on after this year and not use her COVID year in Wisconsin. When it was being 'considered' spring of 2022, I looked back at stats for his various years at Albany, etc. I think I found one year when he had run it. So I'm pretty sure he runs 5-1 unless the personnel just forces the 6-2 on him, like this team does. Right and right, as far as I can tell. Honestly, if Izzy gets significantly ahead of Hammill I could still see him going 5-1 this year - he'd just have to decide who (else?) to bench, which at this point in time looks like Anna unless he values Anna's offense over CC's defense at middle. |

Izzy started last year 'ahead' of MJ, but by the end of the year, they were essentially even; UW won 55.7% of the points played when Izzy was on the floor, and 53.6% when MJ was on. Before my TV cut out, the play-by-play guy said that MJ led the team in aces last year. I thought that had to be wrong, but it isn't MJ had one more ace than Izzy last year. |
