Totally agree! Though it might get a boost in the ratings once Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese make the jump to the WNBA. its not too late to learn to be a setter or middle lol I'm sure Donna will be happy to help out :-) |

Yeah, looks like the difference is that specifies 18-49 Rtg. I think that's the demographic that matters most to advertisers. So I'd rather be in volleyball's spot here than the WNBA, even if the raw viewers number was higher for the WNBA. (It's pretty remarkable that an FS1 broadcast even got close to total viewers of an ABC broadcast) and the lead in was drag racing, not even football or anything Drag racing is great television.  |

Marquette-Oregon outperformed (rating wise) both WNBA games on ESPN AND ABC I think the WNBA is dying with all due respect, when did it come alive? lol everyone gets so caught up in the equality factor. some sports are just better depending on the gender. I'd take men's basketball over women's, softball over baseball, women's volleyball over men's volleyball, men's tennis over women's... it's not a sexist thing. Just a preference. WNBA just isn't it for me. let's get more volleyball on =) |

On a sidenote, I was in a sports bar just a bit ago and they had both the UH-BYU match and the Mizzou-Tennessee match replays on ESPNU just playing on the TV screen (one after the other). I was so happy. I love having women's volleyball just casually playing in sports bars. I don't remember seeing that before.

I remember about 15 years ago trying to watch a Stanford-USC Final Four match in a sports bar and had it turned off so they could play one of those looping pre-packaged videos of extreme sports/nice views. Such a change! |
