I think the WNBA is dying good. send that media and promotion to volleyball lol Totally agree! Though it might get a boost in the ratings once Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese make the jump to the WNBA.

Marquette-Oregon outperformed (rating wise) both WNBA games on ESPN AND ABC I think the WNBA is dying The WNBA would have died a long time ago without the NBA as its benefactor. But it still has the NBA, so I don't think it's going anywhere.

Not to turn this thread into a WNBA topic, but I am guessing the WNBA doesn't make money and the NBA bails it out every year? Or the NBA picks up some of the WNBA costs each year? I will admit that I am not well versed with the intricacies of the WNBA.

I will admit that I am not well versed with the intricacies of the WNBA. I'm having trouble finding anything in the last few years, but in 2018, Adam Silver said that the WNBA has never been profitable. The league was estimated to lose $12 million that year. I suppose things could have changed in the last few years, but I doubt it. The WBB growth seems to be on the college side.

Marquette-Oregon outperformed (rating wise) both WNBA games on ESPN AND ABC That is a disaster for the WNBA on ABC. We may get volleyball on ABC sooner than I thought.

Marquette-Oregon outperformed (rating wise) both WNBA games on ESPN AND ABC Crazy because all of the primary volleyball fans were probably watching Stanford/Louisville. Oregon brand strong.

I’d be a little mindful of “be careful what you wish for” if you’re an advocate of professional volleyball. For one, I think the WNBA dynamic is a possible harbinger. Two, even if it isn’t, some television executives - especially even mildly chauvinistic ones - are likely to give professional volleyball a shorter leash because of it.
I’m a terrible test case because I love all kinds of college sports and am indifferent of pretty much all professional sports.

I think that's the demographic that matters most to advertisers. So I'd rather be in volleyball's spot here than the WNBA, even if the raw viewers number was higher for the WNBA. (It's pretty remarkable that an FS1 broadcast even got close to total viewers of an ABC broadcast)
