I also would like to know 🫡 That’s a man, Maury. John Klanac. Former Ohio State player. His wife might be the one calling the match. At least she has been most of this season.

Stanford get the sweep. Not the best match, but a win is a win. They held Rice to .106 hitting percentage.

As someone said earlier, Rice really looks like they have all the pieces. If they can put it together...

Yuck this was a match to forget bad setting choices and some sets from Miner, Rubin and Kipp not as effective as usual. Lots of silly communication errors but a sweep on the road is a sweep and rice is by no means a bad team if Stanford played this type of match against Texas they could have or would have lost. It is still early so finish the week road trip without a blemish is good. They will need to be better against OSU and Minnesota

I wonder how much the humidity is playing a role. They're spending a lot of time wiping the floor between points, and everyone looks a little overheated. The setter/hitter connections for most of the Stanford players are off. Lots of things mistimed, a lot of tentative swings, almost like no one trusts their feet to not slip. Kipp alone has had, what, 2-3 back row attack violations? If they can gut out a win, esp in 3 sets, maybe the takeaway is this: they didn't play their best against a decent-ish team, and they still found ways to win. That seem to be an issue. Humidity in the gym was probably too high. It was only 98 in Houston today though.

Maybe a case of playing down to the competition. Baird looked good, they’re going to need her. I’ll take it.

If I were to give a POM (player of the match) award, it'd go to Vicini. In a reversal of the UT contest...where she didn't score, yet had 8 Total Blocks...today she went .583 (8-1-12), with only 1 TB. Good job! Sami Francis was on fire during the early stages as well: her 4 stuff/solo blocks were a key today, too.

Those were her only two attacking errors for the entire match.
