This is huge for Belgium/Dominicana/Netherlands/Canada.
DOM & NED are in the best position if they don’t take top 2,, Canada still has a chance, while this is likely a MUST get 1st/2nd for Belgium.

It's crazy how DR/Netherlands/Canada are all in one pool as the 9th, 10th, and 11th ranked teams. Those matches should be exciting!

I'm predicting Argentina pulls some surprises in the Japan group and makes a move up the standings. I think they could take Bulgaria/Belgium and they should beat Peru and Puerto Rico (if Abercrombie isn't making it back in time).

no love for Poland group? its their own page if you wany freedom from japan... i can make that happen lol nah nothing interesting is gonna happen in japan group. vargas is gonna run the table 7-0 and there's like a 10% chance brazil falls to japan. there aren't even any teams that are in the 9/10/11/12 ranking spot to make things interesting for the ranking competition.
Poland group is gonna be fun watching italy lose to USA and Poland.

DOM could get 2nd or 5th…. Who knows ?! why not first, after all, DOM has a winning record against both CHN and SRB in 2023...

China Group: Canada, China, Czechia, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Netherlands, Serbia, Ukraine Japan Group: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Japan, Peru, Puerto Rico, Turkey ill make fancy some other time. The China group will be competitive. Zhu Ting is not on the roster for China, and while China did improved alot in the VNL finals with notable wins over Brazil, US and Poland, throughout the preliminaries, they were unsteady and suffered a string of losses. This raises questions on Cai Bin's ability. This opens up the field. Serbia also had a lackluster VNL, but I am betting they will be trying to do a lot better in the qualification tournament. Guidetti will be feeling the pressure to do better...or else. DR, Netherlands will also be hoping to do well. And given DR's win over the US in the 2023 NORCECA Continental Championship, they are actually in a pretty strong position. Canada also has an outside shot. Realistically not a very high chance for Winzer's girls, but...I won't write them off, they do have potential. I am curious about a team not in those two groups, Italy. I heard Egonu won't be on the roster for the Olympic qualification tournament. Anyone can confirm that? If true, that will have a substantial impact on their performance obviously...

Yes it has been confirmed that Egona will not be there.

That's why I think 2nd is feasible. I don't see DOM going through undefeated somehow, but I could see them as a 1-loss team if they are playing well. The fact that they play too many sets can sometimes put them in a bad position for tiebreakers too... There could even be a scenario where 3 teams are at 1 loss in this pool. I could easily see DOM losing out if they are one of those in that scenario. I think it will be a fun tournament though, for sure.

If any teams other than CHN, SRB, BRA and TUR make the top 2, I will be VERY surprised. I could see JPN beating BRA but the chances of that happening aren't great.
Poland's pool should be the spiciest for the two qualifying spots.

Yes it has been confirmed that Egona will not be there. I wonder why she was left off the roster? Injury? Poor form? She needed a break?
