To be fair to Cai Bin, minus Zhu Ting, this is the best line up of players he can gather. It’s not like he is politicking players and preventing some to be in the National team. It honestly feels like China has reached their ceiling since Lang Ping’s tokyo stint. They really need to shake up the look and that starting line up. And they need to start with Gong Xiangyu and move YLL to that side especially when Zhu comes back. This team need to take a gamble and experiment. he had all of 2022 VNL and 2023 VNL to experiment with different young talents that even the fans know about. Instead, it's the Jin Ye/Wang Yunlu clownshow... I think he absolutely did exclude Yao Di for personal reasons in 2023.
Zhu/Li/Gong pin trio is still pretty good (edit: no matter who plays opposite...) and can hang with the top, if they are all healthy. Removing Cai Bin is a prerequisite for that.
I am aware of some contract discussions last fall to bring in a coach for Tianjin that included discussions about advising the NT. The contract was offered and signed, but then some high level bureaucratic issues came into play and it never came to fruition.

Cai Bin can sign with some weight loss programs
"With me you will keep losing!"
For China’s womens volleyball NT, it’s never the head coach’s call to have this player in and that player out. Oh really, is that why we have been seeing Wang Yunlu from 2015 - 2021?

I just know that Yao Di said that she is not available in 2022 due to taking TCM that have banned substance internationally, and after that Cai basically used it as an excuse to exclude her

The NT connection was more ambiguous, but the suggestion was definitely there in terms of wanting to make some adjustments/changes with the NT coaching situation.

It’s still pretty bad sometimes tbh DOM's defense looks great on the hard hits - it's what they're used to. But that's also somewhat a matter of luck - their defensive strategy/positioning is usually a mess. Also, while they do dig bombs, they don't get the best touches, and it can result in weaker transition opportunities (but the pins can blast away to clean up for that at times). sooooo what youre saying is…get them Zoran Terzic

Hoping the DR pounces and sweeps the netherlands. I hope we can somehow make up points for it. It sucks that the dutch play in the euros which helped them a ton for points this summer. Meanwhile we get the shiitty norceca championship as the only other event to gain points in (which isnt a lot since we have such poorly ranked teams)

I think Brenda being extraordinary and Marte being good (I think she's been fantastic this tournament for her standards) has propelled DOM. But, they still lost to Czech Republic and when you take Brenda away they literally took FOURTH at the *Pan-Am-Cup*, losing to Puerto Rico, going 5 with Cuba.. like wtf. tbf a lot of those were without the Martinez sisters too also, the NORCECA events had a distinct lack of the signature braids. 100% the difference maker imo betty needs the lime green ones back

A healthy trio of LYY, Zhu, and ZCN would’ve been so fun to see

DR!!!!! Volleyball world is saying they qualify with just 2 sets won tomorrow against the Dutch, so tomorrow should be a good one.

I think Cai will get sacked. there have been crowds surrounding the NT bus calling for his removal of command

it is gone now because ZCN retired/will retire

I think Cai will get sacked. there have been crowds surrounding the NT bus calling for his removal of command I think that seems much more likely now, of course. I'm more interested in what the possibilities or options might be if or when that happens.
