Just wondering, what is going on with Kendall Kip, I have not seen her commit so many hitting errors in such a long time? Is she injured or something?

Congrats to Nebraska. They thoroughly outplayed Stanford and deserved the win. A few thoughts: - Nebraska handily won the passing game. That's how you beat Stanford - solid passing and an in-system offense. I was surprised at how easily they passed Stanford's serves. Eventually, you could tell Stanford dialed down the pressure (the oomph in Oglivie went considerably down in Sets 3 and 4; same with Kipp).
- The middles couldn't close the block consistently, which allowed the outsides to run rampant. Not sure if it is due to Francis and Vicini not physically able to do so, the duo incorrectly reading where Bergen was going to put the ball, or if Allick and Jackson were always a threat, therefore they had to always be with the middles. Jackson by the way was fantastic. I could see why Husker fans were singing her praises.
- Nebraska's defense was lights out. Having Choboy and Rodriguez is just not fair for the rest of the country... but they sure are fun to watch. And Murray got to a lot of balls in middle back that should have gone down. Aside from the great passing, this was the other big reason why Nebraska handled Stanford on the road.
- For everyone saying Rubin should have been taken out... you forget the reason she is in there is because of her passing and defense. There is no way Blyashov and Harvey would have done half as well in the backcourt. Yes Rubin was having a bad game in the front row, but he passing and defense is what kept us in the game (Nebraska was also serving lights out). The one thing I didn't understand Rubin doing is why she wasn't trying to tool the block and go for high hands, especially on the garbage sets. As a sophomore, she should know better (and she has shown she can toll the block, so was a bit miffed as to why she didn't to so last night).
- Overall, I didn't think the serving errors cost Stanford... however, I did think it cost us the first set. Every time Stanford got a big point or threatened to break the game wide-open... they served the ball out. Volleyball is a momentum sport and the Cardinal killed their chances so many times in the first set. If they have been smarter about their serving, I think they would have pulled out the first set and potentially could have taken the match. And what was up with serving to Rodriguez? Unless they had stats that suggest otherwise... they should targeted Murray, Krause and Beeson every chance they got.
- Kipp was surprisingly ineffective. I don't know if she's just in a funk, but she's not putting the balls away against the top teams like she did last year. We definitely need her out of her funk.
- Baird, Oglivie and Miner played well, though I wish Miner had set the middles more (again).
I still think we can do some damage come December, but we have a lot of work to do if we want to get back to the Final Four, let alone challenge for a national title.

Of course, it's just sour grapes because Stanford was losing. If she were on Stanford's team, I would love how she acted. I don't think she was disrespectful - just enthusiastic about how well her team was playing.

To be completely fair to Rubin, she got a lot of junk sets (and Miner had no other option), which is why I was so miffed she didn’t try tooling the block more. That was her biggest mistake, imho.

On par with the 124 pages from last year's non-con match.
Does anyone have the espn numbers for the match?

But for sure if your team is losing that in your face stuff is irritating.

Just got to watch it. SakiBomb25 I agree you don’t take Rubin out, her passing was insane. I think she passed like 26 balls and by my eye test was the best passer on the floor. Even though she got aced 3 times I thought Harper was the best passer for Nebraska considering her load. And her hitting was crazy good. I’m not convinced Nebraska out passed Stanford, what I saw is they were just more effective. I think Nebraska was like 39% FBSO and Stanford was like 30%. Nebraska just did more with what they got than Stanford. Some of that was Nebraska blocking, some of it off setting some of it just hitting errors. The Stanford defense and transition game was not on point like they were against Texas and Nebraska was just better in that phase of the game IMO. Balls they probably normally get just hit the floor. Set 1 really came down to two aces off the net. Sometimes it happens.
