What's that saying? Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst? Me af The worst is that a young team still has some growing up to do. The best is that they have a coming out party very early in their careers. Doesn't sound like there's much to be worried about. I mean, winning is a lot easier to deal with as a fan than losing, but the team is already showing so much promise. If I was a Nebraska fan I'd be a lot more nervous heading into a match with Wisconsin than Stanford. This feels like very little pressure, really. At least to me.

Oh 100 percent agree with everything you just said. I’m just referencing this in basic terms of if we get crushed or put up a real good fight/pull out a win 😭

I voted Huskers sweep because damn the torpedoes. But I think Team Whiteboard takes it in four. Well done. Whoever wins the match, you were right!

Can the volleygods give us an intense, high-level, 5 set match (with Stanford winning ofc) on primetime TV in front of a raucous sold out crowd at Maples pls. Like is that too much to ask! That's way too much to ask if you ask me.

They better promote it; otherwise there might be more Nebraska fans in attendance. Those Tuesday matches, even against quality opponents, haven't drawn much attendance. Also, starting time is 6PM, which doesn't give 9-to-5ers much time to get there. And of course it is on ESPN. No issue for me as I'll just shoot down Foothill Expressway in the reverse commute direction and be there in plenty of time for Hambly's chalk talk.

Why wont Stanford got a flex court? I can't watch their televised games. Hard to see the game on their 1980s court. That’s what it was. I had to turn the brightness down on my phone for the Minnesota vs Oregon match. I agree it was hard to watch. To answer your questions Stanford has been moving away from wanting to be an athletic school for a while now. It’s not their focus. So pretty much money. Glad they found a conference or most of their programs would have probably folded. I was not aware of that. Interesting. Do you have anything factual to base that on? Or is it just your expert opinion? It is true that Covid negatively impacted Stanford athletics across the board, and snapped the school's 25-year streak of winning the Director's Cup; which in case you didn't know, is awarded to the school with the most successful athletic program. Texas won the Cup in 2020-2021, and again in 2021-2022. Stanford regained the Cup last year (and finished 2nd the two years Texas won it).

We still have several whales who are very interested in supporting athletics at the very highest level. Their view is that Stanford can be great at both academics and sports simultaneously. Sure, there are some elitists in the administration who would prefer we downplay sports to some degree, but our big monied donors always carry the day. The bottom line is simply this: MONEY TALKS. Elitists have to recognize that some of the whale money could dry up if sports are put on the back burner.
