I think for this match, we should be riding Smrek and DRob. ACF is 5'11" and Victoria is 6'1". I'd rather every OOS ball go to our right side for clean-up this match than to our lefts, who will be hitting against 6'6" Martin half the time. Florida also looked weak defending against the middle attack in the one game I saw of theirs against FSU, so we can get Smrek (and Booth) a bunch of swings in the middle too. That's even before mentioning Smrek is hitting a blistering .429 so far to start the season, and is coming off a great match, let's see if she and DRob can carry us. Hammil's sets to Smrek were on target on Wednesday. Quite a few of her kills were from full extension swings at around 11 feet up in the air!

I doubt both of these teams make the Final Four. Florida will be exposed here. If a team loses to the #1 ranked team, especially after 3 Top 15 wins already on their resume, I hardly consider that team being "exposed". That's called scheduling a tough opponent. They both can't win. Chill with the drama.

Florida you know what to do. Don’t make me regret capping for you please.

There’s a lot of season to play, so maybe but I think the original assertion here is pretty bizarre.

I wish the setters would give up on the obligatory "go back to the hitter who was just blocked by a closed double block and give her another shot at the same blockers". Feed the middles and let's see what happens. Carter is an offensive beast when she gets a good set. CC had some strong kills last night, including from the right.
This to me, goes back to passing/back row defense. Look what happens when we get a pass in system: Booth or Smrek (before she transitions right) get a quick in the middle and they're basically impossible to stop. When athletic 6'7" and 6'9" come at you against one blocker, they're gonna score a majority of the time. But you gotta get in system to get that ball. Otherwise the setters basically have to go left or right when they're way off net on their set. It was nice seeing CC get a bit more involved offensively yesterday. I know it's hard to run slides in a 6-2 but I wonder if we can get some more of that out of her moving forward. Smrek with the right set is actually unblockable. There was one vs Marquette where she was on right side and they set up a perfect double block, and she just hit right over them and put the ball down at like the 15 ft mark in court. Just ridiculous.

Maybe Damrow is a wildcard if the match gets to the "eff it, might as well try some things" stage in Sheff's view.

This is my early take lol

This is a preseason match in September. 8-9 weeks from now is when you know what you have as a team going into the play offs. It is a long season to sort things out.
