Getting thwacked at Stanford is not necessarily an indictment, to be fair! It happens to a lot of good teams. We will await further results for ASU.

Ok, did anyone see the Francis injury? I saw her going down and roll up but not get up. I think the stream intentionally cut away and stayed away. No replay etc. I thought she was very tight to the net. I don't know if she landed on ASU foot or just landed badly or what. I suspect that few if any of us had a very good look at exactly what happened. I’m know doctor, usually if it’s knee they stabilize the leg more when taking off the court. Lots of learning for someone tomorrow.

I was there, did not see clearly what happened, nor did any of the fans I talked to after the match. My impression was that her foot went under the net, she grabbed the net for stability, and went down. So maybe a bad landing; unless something happened on take-off, and the rest was reaction.
She was holding her leg up at, bent at the knee as she was helped off the court. So my guess is it is the ankle.
I figured the double-sub was to get another hitter in the front row with Tufuga; running a 6-2.

Ok, did anyone see the Francis injury? It's an ankle injury, don't think it is broken or dislocated. I'm hoping it's just a rolled ankle with no ligament damage. Coming off the court Francis hopped on one leg putting no weight on the other leg. Stanford has no depth at MB since A Smith is out with a non-volleyball medical issue. Tufuga ran a few quicks during the warmups so she is the designated emergency MB.

Also, as someone noted earlier, Annabelle Smith was not on the bench or present for warm-ups. But she was on the floor after the match, talking to fans and some of the players.

Oh no. I hope it’s nothing serious. Sami has been rock solid in the middle and like what everyone is saying, we don’t have any depth.

From where I was sitting, the injury definitely resulted from contact with an ASU player, although I didn’t see it closely enough to say who stepped on whose foot.

This match was not close, which was not a surprise. Somehow the RPI had ASU ranked #6 in the nation (Pablo had them #7) before this game, close behind Stanford, even though ASU's 14-0 record their two best wins have been against middling SF Austin and Washington. ASU has 17 games remaining and will be lucky to go 9-8 over that span.
The RPI needs some recalibration, with more weight being given to strength of schedule, and even better if margin of victory (75-49 in favor of Stanford tonight) were taken into consideration.

Just watched the replay on YouTube and it looked like Sami landed on ASU's middle's foot. It looked like she grabbed her ankle so definitely not a knee injury. Dang Stanford and Sami really can't catch a break. Hopefully it's not too bad and she'll be back on the court soon!

Is it possible you were wrong about Harvey being at the match? It seems she is in Texas.

Is it possible you were wrong about Harvey being at the match? It seems she is in Texas. Yes, certainly possible as the person in question was sitting next to Yu, appeared to be taller than her, had a hair style similar to the T Harvey videos I've seen, and had on a white Stanford sweatshirt. I was behind the Stanford bench, and they were two or three rows behind the Stanford home sideline where (recruits/commits often sit), so I wasn't that close. I guess it was someone who sort of looks like her.
