Hiapo had better not disappear in Austin or the matches won't be close at all. Texas would sweep. BYU could lose any player on this team and still compete except, Hiapo! Livingston would hurt the 2nd most. Bower?!? Nope not Bower .... it would hurt but Damuni will be a better setter than Bower by the time her career is over. Damuni has played at a much higher club level than Bower ever did. At this point Damuni is a drop down from Bower (but not a lot) but Hiapo is the only legit L on the whole team. If she couldn't play BYU wouldn't beat Texas or any other top 20 team. As far as OH, Stowell could come in and replace Livingston and there would be a drop off but not as big as having no Libero with Hiapo gone. |

Big match-up here! I almost don’t want to see Texas leave the Big 12 since it seems strong this year but the SEC and money calls. The SEC is really upping their game in volleyball, too. I think of it as new ground to break to eventually get everyone to hate us there, too. One of the biggest differences is everyone has a bigger athletic budget, assisted by the $70 million per school from the media rights deal. It sucks that the Big 12 schools voted for this dumb format to save on travel costs. I mean, I get it. Especially places like Cincinnati, West Virginia, and UCF that have to travel so far for their matches anyway. I just look forward to being in a conference where all the schools are relatively wealthy from an athletic department budget perspective. Honestly, Texas leaving really throws the whole conference wide open, unless BYU manages to usurp UT’s crown. I believe the conference race could be more exciting than just about any of them over the course of the next few years. |

A Baylor match are always towards the end. Oh well. After this year it’s on to the next conference. We’ll see how they do it there. |

I think we’ll see things similar to the OU match where Phillips is in, and Devin comes in for the side out on the left side during that one rotation. Especially if we have the subs available late.
