I didn't realize the Turkish league was improving ... they have money for foreign players apparently. Ngapeth and Anderson are not cheap. They have a history of paying well and pulling in top talent (at least the top teams). I remember back around 2014 when Halkbank signed about 4 players and the coach from the Trentino team that were Champions of Italy the year before. The next year they signed Kubiak and Sokolov.

In Japan Both Jaeschke and Russell's teams are on winning streaks.
Panasonic is 6-0 and JT Thunders are 5-1.
Both players have played exceptionally well.

Jendryk is really doing solid in Taranto this season, glad to see that. On the other side, Garcia is soo bad....I don't know who is worse in terms of attacking, Ensing or Garcia...Where did Speraw see his potential when he decided to let him represent USA? Speraw better figures out how to put Aaron/TJ/Jaeschke/Matt on court. If Matt does not work well, I hope the same scenario(facing Turkey in qualification round) does not happen again: TJ/Aaron shouldn't shoulder so much. Of course, the future of oppo for USA is still hopeless, just like previous years.

Monza sweeps Modena… all 3 pins with double digit points, led by Szwarc. Ran was exceptional as well.
Modena could not compete in serve/pass

Fantastic match between Lube and Perugia. Ben Tara and Lagumdzija are both excellent, serving from Ben Tara is daunting.

The Olympics is a veteran tourney and one that unlike the tourneys we have seen, it plays every other day. Days of rest favor Starters.

Modena could not compete in serve/pass Ahhh I had to leave for work after set 2 but Takahashi looked so good out there! The team as a whole is a major step up from last year. Fernando is such a great setter.

At least there were no wildcards this time. It was 1st and 2nd from South America, 1st in Asia, 3rd and 4th from Europe (since 1st and 2nd backed out).

We've been discussing this in the Volleyball Source Discord channel during this Verona-Monza match and don't have an answer - when, if it all, did Francesco Sani switch his sporting nationality to Italian?
The LegaVolley website lists his birth place as USA (obviously) but his sporting nationality as Italian. He's starting at outside hitter with only two other Italians in the starting 7, and this lineup wouldn't be compliant with the Italian foreigner limit except if Sani is considered Italian.
Sure, he clearly has Italian heritage (his name is Francesco Sani, for goodness sake) but he played U19 and U21 for the US and I never heard anything about him switching
