So uh Volleymetrics updated their coding for the match... Rodriguez 3.0 on 17 attempts Murray 2.55 on 43 attempts Batenhorst 2.50 on 6 attempts Choboy 2.78 on 30 attempts Holy Jordan Larson. Personal notes upon looking at film: I actually think Lexi had one pass out of her 17 attempts that I would classify as a 2, so she passed like a 2.94 in my mind (sorry to be a party pooper on that perfect grade LOL). Also, one of the passes attributed to Batenhorst is actually Harper passing the ball. Also, I think it's clear Bergen didn't set one of her best matches on Saturday, even Cook said it wasn't her night before the 5th set. Should be able to be more efficient with that sort of passing, even with Wisconsin's massive block. But wow so proud of this team for handling Wisconsin's serves at an ELITE level. Those numbers are absolutely insane. I cant believe it. Either this team is one of the best passing teams of the last 20 years, OR wisconsin basically served it underhand. I would believe either tbh Was going to say could it be both? Haha. But no lie all the stats from this match are unbelievable. What a weird match!

Modern problems require modern solutions I’m surprised the combined rows are that straight while watching that match

okay Nebraska is obviously a great passing team but those numbers are ridiculous and I think Wisconsin needs to take a good hard look at those bc no way any team should ever pass that well even if they had a passing line up of Larson, Gabi, Moki…. Mybe ill put all of the passes together you're welcome (yes i know the quality is bad. i blame youtube lol)

Mary ….. maybe check in with the the mid-western minds that are responsible for passing technique …..

Surprising to me in the match is the Nebraska 44 hitting errors. Wow. Other things are Nebraska had 17 more kills. Two contradictory stats. With Nebraska having very good passing numbers. One would think the hitting numbers would be better.
Wisconsin had unreal blocking numbers and touches too. Wisconsin had underrated backcourt play. Franklin was the best player on the floor for Wisconsin. Just really good numbers hitting and stellar backcourt play. So many weapons for Wisconsin with so many proven experienced players.
Nebraska, mentally, stayed in the match even with those deflating second set and third set blocks against them. Besides the very numerous hitting errors. I think Nebraska won the match with the home court advantages and being mentally tenacious with so many hitting errors.
Both teams found things about themselves and the opponent that are great teaching lessons. Both teams played exceptionally hard, very well for long periods and gained confidence from the match. Plus things to work on in the weeks and matches ahead. It was an epic match and another boost for women’s indoor volleyball.

They also have autotrac so, from personal experience, you can put autotrac on and watch on your phone 😅

Mybe ill put all of the passes together, but Wisconsin's serving strategy really was poor... Lexi has so much time to get to where she wants to be (also blame the quality on the recording.. it was really bad and a bit on youtube lol) A lot of serves that seemed to float. Did they try to over compensate on cutting down service errors? And why, you have to serve tough against N's D, not serve up lollypops.

A couple times when the NCAA mandated an open practice the day before tournament games, I watched UW practices. And for serving practice, they will run a string a ball's diameter (or a bit more) above the tape, so the servers have a visual 'goal' of hitting the ball over the tape and under the string. Velocity matters less than accuracy aiming just above the tape. And beyond that, this year some of them - Crawford, particularly - have had real success with a float dropping to the three meter line. So put those together and you're going to get balls that might look 'soft'.

One of the years was 2019, and the Nebraska practice was the one I didn't stay for. But one year (also 2019?) Notre Dame had an assistant holding a radar gun, calling out mph for the serves. The focus was *entirely* velocity. The difference was striking.

Modern problems require modern solutions I’m surprised the combined rows are that straight while watching that match That combine is likely driving itself. The guy in the cab is monitoring, not driving. Usually only needs to actually drive when turning around at the end of the row then just sets the machine and the machine drives the row.

The hitting errors and ++ kills are consistent with Wisconsin’s dominant block. They aren’t contradictory. Wisconsin was scoring off blocks so they get less kills and those blocks count as hitting errors for Nebraska.

This is all Nebraska. Wisconsin not at full strength. Wasn’t “all Nebraska” but I kinda called it. The home team wins this matchup.
