Don’t think that is true about Smrek..wasnt orzal also on that team? Players on the 2021 team still on the 2023 team do include Anna Smrek and Julia Orzol. They also include MJ Hammil, Izzy Ashburn, Devyn Robinson, Sydney Reed, and Joselyn Boyer. Smrek, Orzol, and Robinson played a big role on the 2021 team. Izzy Asburn was a serving sub for Dana Rettke. Smrek, Orzol, and Robinson still play big roles, and Asburn and Hammil now share the setting job. Sydney Reed and Joselyn Boyer are still mostly reserve DS players. In 2021, Boyer played in 30 of 34 matches, and 92 of 122 sets.

No stock in their chances?? None. Talent is a wash. Coaching... eh. Comme ci comme ca. Experience favors the Badgers. Can the Huskers win? Sure. Would I bet that the Huskers will win? No.

No. I feel like this could have been said about Stanford, no? I feel like experience would favor every team we play.

I have broken this matchup into the following categories. This is not based on hard data, just my two eyes from watching the teams play. This is how I see the teams matching up against each other with Wisconsin squeeking by in 5 sets. Another instant classic.
Defense Nebraska >> Wisconsin
Serving Wisconsin > Nebraska
Setters/Setting Nebraska >> Wisconsin
Terminators Wisconsin >> Nebraska
Blocking Wisconsin >> Nebraska
Passing Nebraska > Wisconsin
Experience/Intangibles Wisconsin >> Nebraska
Coaching Wisconsin = Nebraska
Location Nebraska > Wisconsin

I have a hard time believing anyone who thinks their team has a distinct advantage. But given that fact, I favor Nebraska in this one due to home court. The only counteracting factor is that Wisconsin is on a great run of form, but that's vs no one so how much does that mean.

No. This feels like someone protecting themselves from being disappointed. Heck, I’d bet a good majority of Wisconsin fans think Nebraska has a better chance than you do.

The Badgers went on the road to Penn State, Nebraska and Ohio State to win the BIG outright. Lincoln to Columbus was back to back. It will be a loud Nebraska crowd for sure, but I don't think it will affect The Badgers the way it may have affected Penn State last week. Possible exception may be TTA. I hope both teams are at full strength and playing their best VB; that's the way it ought to be.

I think the Nebraska freshman have more than proved that their lack of ncaa experience isnt an issue

All I know is....if the game is starting to tilt in Nebraska's favor or it's in a 5th set we may see the most volatile crowd energy wise that we've ever seen in Devaney. On the flip side, if Wisconsin goes up 2-0 it will get very quiet

Any guesses which Neb outside will spend the most time opposite Smrek? Should be Batenhorst. She's got a nasty block.

Ally gets fooled frequently, plus Krause has a better vertical that likely makes up the height difference. And that’s not even looking at Krause’s hitting and serving advantages.

WI has more experienced players, but the NE team may have had more time playing together than WI. Lot of variables between two very good teams. Should be fun to see which team wins this one. GBR!
