So there was going to be an investigation, but instead when they heard the word “lawsuit” they fired without an investigation? Am I reading that correctly? And Joe Allison is presumably the father of sophomore Ryann Allison who played in one match opening weekend. So if you take this job, make sure she starts if you want to stick around. I'm not familiar with the issue but I'm reading the same as you are reading.. I can't judge who is wrong but for sure is not an issue of technical experience or program's overall performance (which by the way was better than 2022).

If Syracuse doesn’t make a change they might not have a team. There are proooobblems. can someone please explain what’s happening here? A power 5 program really in the dumps?

And because of that they will give the new coach a bunch of time to rebuild. This is a situation that will take 3-4 years at least.

The school made such an absolute mess of the hiring process (last year?) that they were lucky to have a season this year. They fired the old head coach in 2021. They didn’t have Bake in place until August of 2022. The former coach told everyone to leave so he had to scramble to put a team together but they didn’t want to pay for a great coach on the way up. Syracuse got a coach that was fired from his previous job and desperate. He just isn’t great. He fired the two assistant coaches that he brought with him the first year. He then didn’t recruit much between seasons so they started with only about 12 players. The facilities are trash. The gym floor is awful and the work out facilities that VB uses are awful. They ended up with at least 4-5 injuries immediately . He made some very interesting choices with the players he did have. Bottom line… Syracuse won’t invest in the program and the coach they got to take the job might be a good guy but he’s not a good coach. Also, who wants to walk on and pay $80k to be a part of the program?

Add in the fact that it isn't a super easy school to recruit to - not a great looking campus, lots of older facilities, and that part of NY is kinda blah (speaking as a former upstate NYer). Previous coach was only able to recruit moderately well because he had a overseas pipeline that might have be a bit questionable and the administration turned a blind eye.

No, they did an investigation. They did bring in an outside investigator. If the parents were “sending documents” maybe the coach put her abuse in writing? Doesn’t sound like very Christian behavior from the coach.

Jennifer Adeva is stepping “up” to Admin and leaving her head coaching duties at Cal State Domingues Hills. She was there for decades, had a winning season 2012, by not much since. Rough location in Los Angeles area , not great facilities, safety in area and traditionally bottom of a very intense D2 conference.Hired an outside agency to process applications and added to part of application is a personal essay on diversity and inclusion . Start pay is $90,000 plus, so even with the negatives should attract.

Could very well be the athletes putting their experience in writing...tough to speculate and I have heard too many horror stories about athletes just clashing with coaches and calling it abuse, to take this at face value

Lots of athletes putting up with crap they shouldn't have to, but it is damn scary out there for coaches too. So easy to get run over by twisted allegations especially if your in one of those low support situations where the AD doesn't care about anything except keeping his department looking clean.

I didn’t think Leonid was fired, especially after leading Syracuse to their first and only NCAA tournament

All due respect to Barry, that would be an interesting choice to make on your own. Also the shambles he left the program in definitely showed no love.

Actually, Barry is kind of retirement for Leonid. He’s always wanted to go back to Florida. He owns a condo in Miami, his daughter and grandkid live in Miami area. Close to family while picking up an extra paycheck from Barry. Not a bad gig if you ask me.
