To put UDub's ranking in perspective, UC Berkeley is 50th, Drake is 48th. Y'all were 30th a week ago.

Generally speaking, the cutoff for getting into the NCAA tourney hovers right around #40 historically.

That's due to the number of Automatic Qualifiers given to the winners of (mostly) minor conferences.

What often occurs in midlevel conferences is the regular season champion gets knocked out in a conference tournament; they lose out on the AQ; and yet they still get in: thereby reducing the at-large pool.
