I like Sponcil so I'm still wondering what it is about the Libero position that she hadn't come up to speed on quick enough to keep her starting spot. Is it the "quarterbacking" aspect of it, or more appropriately, the defensive signal caller in football aspect? Does it take a few years to get that down?
I did find the passing stats... Sponcil 35% perfect vs. Gomes 29%. And that delta seems to me, without any data to back it up, consistent with balls Sponcil would dig into settable spots vs. Gomez.
Any of you Libero aficionados out there that can fill me in why a siginificantly better passer loses the Libero job?

Way to cherry pick stats. Gomez is 68% positive vs 61% for Sponcil. Hard to say based on the passing numbers that one would be ahead of the other - much less "significantly better" (esp. with the inconsistencies in PVF's coding) when Gomez is putting them in system more often.

There's also the context of team needs. Sponcil is so versatile she was brought in at the beginning of the season to be plugged in wherever there was a hole.
Camilla was finally recovered enough from her pre-existing knee injury, and when given the opportunity to start at Libero she succeeded.
And then, Dimitrova went down so we needed depth at Opposite.
Now she's back, Cathy has to think about the eventually that Karch might have to pull Evans at any time if the US Gym has an injury at setter.
Cathy has an ace up her sleeve if that happens. Why expose it for other teams to scout?

I'm not saying Evans will get playing time in VNL. I'm just saying that it's prudent for George to be prepared to go to the playoffs without Evans.

I can't be heartbroken. At the beginning of the season, I had the team ranked third. The coaches' poll had us tied for third.
The season was up and down and, about two-thirds into the season, I questioned if we were going to miss the playoffs.
I'm proud the team made it to the championship.
But, win or lose, it's a fleeting emotion because without the Demitrovs here next season, no draftees retained (although, I guess it's possible Emma Clothier and/or Karly Basham could sign this year.) and with Chausee rumored to not resign, next year's team will feel very different.
That was going to happen win or lose.
I'm content. AND, grateful DeVos decided against investing in the disastrous relaunch of the Arena Football League (look it up and you'll feel better about any disappointments you have in the PVF this year... what a $#!+-show!)
I guess it'll be time to start a 2025 thread soon. Although, I find myself lurking more here anymore and posting on reddit.

I think the Michigan Dairy Market Program Committee had some agreements with Rise players lined up for the original free agency schedule. It seems like they've leaked two re-signings over the last two days. https://www.instagram.com/p/C7wvTn9JLQD
