The first big tournament kicks off this weekend in Chicago. Anyone know what’s going on as far as predictions across all ages?

The first big tournament kicks off this weekend in Chicago. Anyone know what’s going on as far as predictions across all ages? Nope but I’m excited. 17 open will be a lot of hungry teams after last year’s nationals. Can’t predict who will be at top but I’m sure Surf and Sting feel they have a lot to prove this year. Teams who nobody thought would have good runs at nationals were the biggest surprise and teams that people thought would be at the top really didn’t make it to gold. 18 open I could tell you HP 18-1s are much improved this year roster wise. I’m ready to see what the table brings this weekend. |

Interested to see how the Milwaukee teams do (15 up). High school season just finished on Sat (11/4) with club tryouts on Sun/Mon. Maybe the teams will have one practice together before the weekend?

Didn’t seem to set MKE Sting 16-1s back last year who finished runner up in this event with the same circumstances. |

Who are some of the "must see" players to see this year? I'll be there for the AM waves, would love to know who the 16 and 18's are to look out for.

It looks like they returned pretty much everyone from last years team. So we will get a chance to see how they do without Blanchette running the offense. Even without him, they were a really solid team. |

What is the main reason for why Boys Volleyball is a fall sport vs a winter sport out in that area? Does anyone have an idea/assumption? |

What is the main reason for why Boys Volleyball is a fall sport vs a winter sport out in that area? Does anyone have an idea/assumption? The WIAA (school sports governing body) has said that moving boys volleyball to the spring doesn’t work for a few reasons. The weather in Wisconsin in the Spring is pretty terrible and if the weather is bad and outdoor sports have to practice inside, there won’t be enough space for everyone They also don’t want to lose any programs because participation numbers will drop if volleyball has to compete with the other spring sports (Track, Golf, baseball, tennis) |

Along the same lines will MB Surf 18-1 be fine without Tread? As evidence, take this past Sunday. Sean Kelly and Victor Loiola were on the floor for the first time this club season and MB Surf won the bracket, beating Wave 18's, Rockstar 18's and Balboa Bay Blue 18's - all in straight sets. I'd say they'll be just fine. |
