Any notable transfers in the naia world yet? Only two I have heard of are both transferring to Saint Xavier. Avery Chick, Libero from Bethel and Xavier York, setter from Jamestown. Not sure the inpact they will have. Also, we should be done with all the Covid seniors so easier to “guess” who is coming back from current rosters. I saw a post on IG that middle Cam Steckler is transferring from Jamestown to St. Xavier also.

I think coach of the Year should be the Bald Gremlin from Georgetown. Dude was gifted that roster from the previous coach, granted he did what Palmer never did and actually won at the tournament, but I'd credit that more to the core being more experienced.

Ayden Keeter and Carson Barnes from Webber just finished in 2nd place at the World University Games trials in Manhattan Beach over the weekend. Only the 1st place team is guaranteed going to the championship in Rio de Janeiro, but the USA almost always gets two team in, so there is a chance they could be selected to participate in September. Great to see the NAIA being represented so well.

Watching Georgetown play at nationals, it looked like the players on the court were making the decisions/"suggestions" and not the coach. Just my opinion.

Ahhhhh yes just because it looks like something is happening means it automatically is! Different coaches have different coaching and communication styles. Guess any new head coach that’s ever walked into a top 15 team and done well should be crucified for not coaching. Still did something Palmer never did. Oh wait that’s the last few national champs…. Grand View in 2022, Vanguard in 2023 and Georgetown in 2024. So Felipe, Bryan and Jim all shouldn’t have really won because it was the players experience that did it. Maybe let’s not discredit the coaches of any program for the work they put in this season? It’s hard to win a national championship and Dwyer is one of 3 men’s head coaches this season to win one.

Mathew August announced on his Instagram (linked to BenU Mesa) that he has been named head coach. Looks like he was an assistant at Grand Canyon.
I hope he can change the culture at BenU Mesa.

Matt August is great, he's been a big part of AZ Fear success as well coaching their top kids for years. What's going on at Ben Mesa? There were bunch of kids there from Utah last year and they dropped out midseason, no idea if they left or were cut. Always seemed like weird stuff at that program. When Ray Lewis was there it was a top notch program.

A great example of my perceived attitude on that team was numerous players throwing their 2nd place plaques from the 2023 tournament on the ground as the team was "accepting" their individual awards. Side note to that, Landon Fuller did make his teammates pick them up. He appears to be a real class act.

Based on what I've seen of him personally, and on what I've heard from people who know him personally, he is of extremely high character. I've heard that he may be coming back again for his last year of eligibility after this year's lost season. I wish him well. Also, I agree that the teams under Lewis, up through their national championship team in 2019, were very classy. That 2019 team was a joy to watch. I wish August and the new coach at OUAZ, Wellington Afusia, well in changing the cultures at their new helms. I am reluctant to paint all of the Arizona NAIA schools in the same light; Park Gilbert has just not been good enough the last couple years to exude any type of arrogance and Arizona Christian, like all Christian institutions, would not tolerate that type of behavior from their players. However, between BenU and OUAZ, I have witnessed some of the nastiest, most mean-spirited behavior that you could imagine from their players, especially the bench players, who seem to have decided their only value to their team is to verbalize very personal attacks on opposing players. Some of it has been disgusting. Why it seems to be so pervasive at only these two Arizona schools is an interesting question. I hope it doesn't say something about the culture of volleyball in Arizona. As it is, I haven't gotten the impression that Stallman or Steele have been encouraging that behavior, but I can't say they have done anything to discourage it. It just seems like they try to pretend they don't know it's happening. Let's hope August and Afusia do better reining things in. If not, it's going to end up putting a stain on this sport we all love.

Some of the benches throughout the NAIA are very entertaining and don't "go after" the other team and they are fun to watch. Big fan of the Georgetown bench and the different individual cheers that they have for each player. Also have noticed some teams don't really get a very "vocal" boost from their benches at all (personally, I would rather have this than the obnoxious benches).
