Helmers looks good! understand wanting to get everyone on the court but def wouldn’t have minded Byrd getting another set to play over Kenna. Soah was a great depth piece to add too

Some new players looked good. Did Kenna Miller play today? If not any thought as it seemed everyone else got on the floor?

uhhh when did I complain about swindle??? yesterday please point out anywhere I complained about her. I was calling horns1 out for saying that she should *have* to start even if she’s not the best setter in the gym. I feel like I’ve been nothing but pro-Swindle all summer and was trying to defend her yesterday from someone who was suggesting she might quit if she didn’t start.

I said it made the most sense for Ella to start today’s match. Guess what? She started. The coaching staff made the same decision I would have made.

Game thoughts
Soah has successfully converted to the ways of the finger taping, and I am here for it. Still waiting for the brainwashing to get to other newcomers Nya in sweats and not playing is a bummer. Makes it even more important we grabbed Soah for depth purposes. Brennan looks TINY next to the rest of our team. Definitely well shorter than her listed height Seeing Juliann on the bench also makes me so happy.
Jenna looks the same I would say. Her best swing of the day came on the right side actually, but OOS she still is up and down. Set 3 she did pretty well, other times struggled. Whitney is a serious threat IMO, she appears to be in great shape and her athleticism is a clear advantage.
Both middles look superb offensively, (Mari unstoppable today) don’t think we’ll miss a beat there. And blocking I think will be ready to go, probably not quite as good as last year but I think they will be able to hold their own.
Madisen, Emma, Kaylei all look as expected to me, with their spots on the team solidified.
Right side is interesting. we did not set the opposites much, most of the right side sets came via slide attacks. Devin had a killer line shot, RR had her moments. Nothing that definitively made either stand out to me.
Loved seeing Rella have success in a serving sub role, 2 aces and caused a lot of havoc, good for her!
Reese was very composed in her limited action. Very demure and mindful, even. I like her demeanor. Brenna was a baller too.
Setter? No idea. I still think both have the same strengths and weaknesses, and am comfortable with whoever wins the job.

Let’s goo! I knew Rella would be a fantastic serving sub, after her first practice tik toc I was like that Hawaiian serve is disgusting

I'm going call shenanigans. She's clearly a couple of inches shorter than Halter, but they're both listed at 5'5". . . assuming Emma's stat is accurate, I'd go with 5'3" max for Brennan

Game thoughts in pictures. Some are duplicates, but whatever. I was going to record it on my phone, but I couldn't find my tripod, so next year.
Julianne (Faucette) Johnson has always wanted to be back at Texas. She was on the team to help monetize NIL for the players, now she's finally on staff as "Player Development Consultant". Consultant? Whatever.
And then the return of ex-grad school volunteer coach Riley (Beuchler) Canter.
And then in warmups, Bunton in sweats.
