The thing is (IMO) for a 6-2 to really work the setters need to be very similar in setting style, so the hitters don't have to adjust to each one. We don't have that right now.

Today is the start of 14 straight wins for the horns. A little bit of adversity along the way but these situations make the journey that much sweeter. Enjoy the ride that starts today Longhorn Nation. It's going to be special. 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

I’m not sure the 6-2 survives even the weekend. I definitely don’t see it for next season though. The real question is who sets in a return to a 5-1? Would Swindle take a redshirt year to work on her game while Carlson plays her final year. If she truly wants to stay at Texas that’s a possibility. What I can’t see is another year of wanting to play in a 6-2, or taking a back-up role. Swindle is aces for being supportive of Carlson joining the team, so I hope she gets the opportunity to start again. The indecision at setter, and reduced playing time, seems to have slowed her development, which doesn’t seem to get mentioned. Playing setter at D1 is freaking hard, and nothing beats all the game experience you can get. I'm not sure I agree. Next year we still have Byrd, Helmers, Vander Wal, Spears, Gaido, Kahahawai, Lauenstein, Miller, and Tompkinson. An embarrassment of riches in talent. How many of the current players are going to wait ?

won't some of our current players enter the portal? texas needs to lose @ 3 players to be able to utilize the transfer portal with the new roster limit @ 18...this year's roster is 20 so 2 over...5 super seniors are leaving the program & 5 freshman are joining the program...its the new math, 18 max...so @ least 2 players have to leave just to meet the new requirement (supposedly in the '25 season)...my guess is @ least 3 leave

They brought up two issues that I hadn't considered. And they used the example of swimming and cross country.
1. If your new limit is N-players, not only are some coaches going to trim down (cut players) to N, they're going to go below that in anticipation of slots needed for transfers. The simple example they gave was that if you've recruited the number 28th, 45th, and 99th player to your squad (and the limit is 25) then you're going to cut down to 23 players because what if player #24 or #25 or #26 (nationally ranked) are now available because the other school is cutting as well?
2. Roster limits are now the number of scholarships a school can fully fund. But, in some cases, some coaches aren't going to fully fund the new roster limit! An example was given of Men's volleyball. Although they share 4.5 scholarships across unlimited roster size, when the limit is now 18, they may only fund 7 or 8 of those 18 roster limit! I hadn't realized this until the reporter who has been following the agreement being worked out with the judge and the lawyers. Roster limits do not equate to full roster scholarships!

Am I underthing correctly ----- Women's volleyball can have a max of 18 fully funded scholarship players. If a team can only afford 15 scholarships, that team is limited to 15 players? You cannot have walk-ons? ( no more Michael Taaffe's)
