The scheduling is wild. Lowk I think they have changes already planned for each game and switching the setters was the first part. Not sure what they're building to, but that's how they've been making adjustments in the 6-2 so far. Well stats for Missouri game are fairly even except service aces. Errors were still high. Missouri was well prepared. Crownover has elevated her team, and she seemed to be motivated. She was great on setting, offence and defence. Can't overlook that. The other teams will be just as prepared. But we can't give up on our team. Oh yeah! I'm not giving up on them at all. I was more saying that I expect to see changes, maybe even for tomorrow's game. But I think any changes we see are planned/part of a bigger picture and not solely a reaction to last night's game. Kind of like how Swindle stopped jump setting around this time last year and there were a couple games where Texas looked like they had regressed, but that change proved huge in the tournament. And yeah, people love the narrative that Texas doesn't get tested in conference, but every team is fighting against them. It might make for frustrating games, but I think it'll also help them improve.

any recruiting help on the horizon? we hitting the Portal hard? are any of the recruits coming in next year going to go far in a determination of whether we play a 6-2 vs 5-1? Dumb questions, but i have no idea.

Dumb questions, but i have no idea. Great question, but bad idea for Texas to hit it hard. Shows we can't develop what we have from scratch imo. Apparently next year we get our terminal power back with Macaria Spears and an OPP from what I've seen. Also a lot of them are starting/playing in the national all-american games so that's exciting

Next year we're getting Abby Vander Wal OH phenom, Macaria Spears OH with a little less experience, Taylor Harvey outstanding middle and more, and Genevieve Harris setter. Unless we get a chance at Kennedy Martin. I vote no more transfers, give the existing girls a chance.
They're all Under Armour Next American Stars, and will play in Dec. Or Jan. Game.

I think if we recruit anyone out of the portal it will be a 3rd DS or a solid-passing 6 rotation outside. I am so excited to see our 2025 pins plus Whitney next year, but feel like all of them are more heavy hitters rather than passers and I don’t really want to rely on Whitney/freshman to pass 6 rotations.

Soooooo good.

Soooooo good. Her offense was incredible in 2023. Her passing at that time wasn’t the best. She struggled this past summer. She made the U21 team, but was the outside who spent the most time on the bench and didn’t score much off the bench. I still think she starts next year, but front row only.

I assumed AVW gets the starting spot over Byrd.

I’m not sure the 6-2 survives even the weekend. I definitely don’t see it for next season though. The real question is who sets in a return to a 5-1? Would Swindle take a redshirt year to work on her game while Carlson plays her final year. If she truly wants to stay at Texas that’s a possibility. What I can’t see is another year of wanting to play in a 6-2, or taking a back-up role. Swindle is aces for being supportive of Carlson joining the team, so I hope she gets the opportunity to start again. The indecision at setter, and reduced playing time, seems to have slowed her development, which doesn’t seem to get mentioned. Playing setter at D1 is freaking hard, and nothing beats all the game experience you can get.

Next year we still have Byrd, Helmers, Vander Wal, Spears, Gaido, Kahahawai, Lauenstein, Miller, and Tompkinson. An embarrassment of riches in talent. How many of the current players are going to wait ?
